Looks like this is going to be the break-out, must-see comedy of the Summer since The Hangover: Part Two was a complete disaster.

This movie I'll very likely go see Saturday evening and I look forward to it, but I'm sure others are going to see it or have already seen it so let's see what you've got to say!

Ebert has given it 3.5 stars and pretty positive review.

The Midnight Screening series of web-videos being done by the "Cinema Snob" has also produced a positive review (and a not so positive one for The Zookeeper.)

So discuss, grade and spoil.

And just think how terrible it would be to have Jennifer Aniston as a boss and have her sexually harassing you.

I'm looking forward to seeing this one. It's the first comedy in a long time that I've actually laughed out loud at in the previews and commercials. I read a couple of reviews that said it was terrible, which was disappointing, so I'm glad to see that others have reviewed it more favorably.

I've been looking forward to seeing this as well. The trailers have made me laugh. I'll probably go see this during the week.

I give it an A-

There are some really inspired moments of silliness in the film, mixed in with some that are cliches. Overall it's a really enjoyable time though. The cast has great chemistry together, and that is essential to carrying a movie like this. Kevin Spacey is also always able to elevate any work he's in. He manages to make me want to punch him in the face in the first 30 seconds he's on screen.

So yeah, it gets a recommend. It's maybe not the true original that The Hangover was, but it's still a really worthwhile way to pass an hour and a half.

On shallower note: I think this is the hottest Jennifer Aniston has ever looked in a movie. Wow....

this so like it is going to be so funny. it reminds me of 9 to 5 back in the 80's.

It wasn't bad. Not great, but not bad. I give it a B.

I actually thought the supporting players had the best parts: the three bosses all seemed to be enjoying themselves.

It's funny. B+

But, it's Patricia Highsmith who invented the Strangers on a Train plot twist.

I just saw it and I thought it was a really funny movie. I was impressed with the cast they put together, even just to do cameos. Jason Bateman continues to be a phenominal straight man and I've always found Jason Sudakis to be very funny. The bosses all shined too. I caught John Francis Daley of Freaks and Geeks fame and I was surprised to learn that he co-wrote the screenplay.

Horrible Bosses was definitely a hell of a lot funnier than The Hangover II.

I'm giving it an A. I mainly wanted to see it because I remember falling in love with Jennifer Anniston when she first had dark hair ages ago and I wanted to get a good long look at her hotness with it back. I was not disappointed!

The movie itself started slow for me because it starts with Bateman's sitch, which didn't seem all that funny, but it ramped up and by the end I was dying!

So A.

Horrible Bosses

My Grade: A-

-------------------------------------------------------

Horrible Bosses is this Summer's big comedy, ask me what it'd be this past Spring and I would have said that The Hangover Part II would've shone brighter just based of the cast chemistry from the fist movie but the sequel retreaded the first movie's plot too closely and really went too far with some of the antics, plot points, and character quirks.

Here we have Horrible Bosses, a laugh riot of a movie. In it three working stiffs run into various problems with their bosses that make their individual lives miserable. First there's Nick (Jason Bateman) an office drone who has been working hard for several years to get a promotion, he arrives at work at the crack of dawn and leaves at sunset, he's missed his beloved grandmother's funeral and has given up much in hopes to become a VP for the company he works for, when the expected announcement comes his asshole, self-serving, boss (Kevin Spacey) assumes the VP role into his own job -along with an office expansion and generous pay raise.

Next we have Kurt (Jason Sudeikis) a high-ranking manager in a father-son waste management business, he's close friends with the father but after he dies the coke-snorting son with no regard for the ADA or other worker rights laws takes over and uses Kurt to do the under-handed work in the businesses as well as possibly break environmental codes to lift profits.

Finally we have Dale, an engaged dental hygienist who is being mercilessly sexually harassed by the dentist he works for (played by a smoking hot, brown-haired, Jennifer Aniston). Yeah. He has it rough, when she calls him in to discuss their "problem" and all she's wearing are panties and a lab coat.

The three realize they're at a dead end as Nick can't get another job as he's spent 8-years in his current one and his boss vows to give poor recommendations, Kurt feels obligated to stay at the company he is at to ensure the company doesn't ruin the local environment and it stays true to the father's business standards and Dale can't leave his job due to blackmail (Aniston will show lewd pictures she has of her and Dale (taken while he was under NOS getting work done) and he can't get another job due to being a registered sex offender (he was arrested peeing in a public park late one night) so they all decide they should plot to kill their bosses under the guise of "justifiable homicide" and pay a supposed hitman $5000 to guide them through the process.

We see them steakout their bosses houses and a mix up leads them down a desperate path to save their own lives.

The three characters work very well with one another and the boss characters also do a very good job with their parts. Aniston has never been so alive, sexy, and real on the screen and Kevin Spacey is truly terrifying as the asshole boss we've all worked for at one time or another. Although it's tough to sympathize with Dale (seriously, a really hot woman wants to have sex with you and isn't hiding it in anyway? Darn!) the antics that come from that are just as funny. The movie's humor dives into the shallow end of the pool a couple of times but for the most part it remains smart and, really, a delight.

Really enjoyed this movie and is easily this Summer's comedy. Go see it.

Saw it today with a friend, knowing absolutely nothing about it going in (other than the basic plot and who's in it.)

I was pleasantly surprised by how funny and wacky it was without constantly resorting to toilet humor. The bosses were obviously caricatures but they were there for you to hate and they pulled that off beautifully. Loved how the other two guys were always skeptical of their friend griping about his female boss sexually harassing him. Most guys probably would react that way. "Oh, your hot female boss wants your jock? Boo fucking hoo, man!"

The way some things worked out was a bit too convenient but nothing came out of left field as often happens in comedies. Well, Kevin Spacey's character being an unrepentant murderer did come off as a bit over-the-top, but whatever. He was a raging asshole. I imagine he had a lot of fun with that role.

I am also very glad I've never had a boss like one of these.

Other than Jennifer Aniston, right. ;)

Yeah, Kevin Spacey's character being a murdering sociopath seemed sort of out of nowhere but I figured it'd tie the ending up nicer while not making our "heroes" killers.

I do sort-of wonder why Bateman didn't come up with an excuse for being in that neighborhood, he witnessed the murder, panicked, and sped off and then played as a witness to what happened. Seemed like a good way out of the situation, there'd be no forensic evidence of him having been there and it's not illegal for him to be out and about in that manner, seems like playing as witness would clean things up nicely.

But, yeah, Kurt's DNA being allover the bathroom would be hard to explain away but that's Kurt's problem.

^Yeah, he could have saved himself so much trouble by just telling the truth. Heck, Dale could have saved himself so much trouble by telling his fiance about his boss's sexual harassment, too.

I'd also assume getting a good lawyer could've gotten the indecent exposure/sex offender law off his record considering the nature of the "crime."

I believe there's also a means of getting a job without calling in your previous employer as a reference citing that the employer wouldn't be a good, or fair, source for work history and performance.

Yeah, if he did it at night when no one was around, I don't see how Dale would have been classified as a sex offender.

Bateman's character couldn't tell police why he was there because it would have likely exposed what him and his friends were planning. He still should have done the anoymous phone call after he was taken to the police. I was thinking they could have reported that Bobby had cocaine in his house but that wouldn't have gotten him out of his father's company.

Yeah, pretty much all areas have an anonymous tip hotline for people to report crimes.

But on being an actual witness there'd be no need to expose the "plot" between him and his friends. All he'd have to do is say he was driving through the area and saw the crime happen, the police need not be privy to why he was in the area.

True but you can imagine Spacey's lawyer would probably be digging up just what Bateman's character was doing around the area.

Kevin Spacey's character came from Swimming with Sharks, a wonderful little movie I recommend highly.

The trio are movie buffs. Just remembering the movie Snow Falling Cedars is funny enough, but making an Ethan Hawke joke out of it is pretty close to witty.

True but you can imagine Spacey's lawyer would probably be digging up just what Bateman's character was doing around the area.

There's no law against just driving around. He can't prove anything. If Nick had just used a little common sense, he could have ended that whole thing much easier.

Agreed.

The guys were idiots with how they went about everything. They didn't even wear gloves when they were spying.
