Heroes Question about Sylar's powers

Mallet

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
So did Sylar loose all of the new powers he had gained in S1? Was he basically "reset" in season two and now has to start building up his power "collection" again?

because by the end of season one Sylar had a lot of abilities but he never seems to use any of them anymore except for telekinesis and his laser finger & brain studying/power copying abilities.

What's the deal with that?

Considering he has his telekinesis power still, I'd say no he wasn't 'reset.' Though logically he should be.

As for his main power, I just don't understand it. How did he come to realize studying someone's brain would give them their power? It requires a huge leap of faith to assume Syler just knew that's what he had to do. Especially if you've watched how he gained that first power. "Oh, hey, the dude's address. Awesome. I'mma go over and steal his power and automagically know I have to lop off his scalp and prod his brain." WTF?

And what did he do with all those other brains?

Well I was wondering if telekinesis was one of his natural abilities, rather then a "learned" one. Also, is the "laser finger" a natural ability or did he "learn" that off of someone?

And, as a blast from the past, how was he able to survive being shot by Matt & fall off the roof without injury in Season one, without already having a regeneration or toughness ability?

I worry that the writers are just making Sylar's powers up as they go along.
Actually I am pretty sure they are making up the whole series as they go along with no idea what is going to happen next.

Sylar's power is to see how things work. He came to the realization of how his own power worked (that's why he heard that ticking sound right after he killed that guy).

The telekinesis is a learned power (taken from the first guy killed). How he cuts off heads is either another power or part of telekinesis.

That's right I had forgotten about that scene. So, that means he does still have all his "learned" powers from season one.

I wonder why he doesn't use them? And I also wonder why his super hearing has never bothered him like it did the lady he took it from. I mean after last nights episode he should have been deaf if he still had that power.

The first guy Sylar killed did not have telekinesis. The first guy he killed and took his power from had the exciting and wonderful and fun ability of... making things melt.

No, in the "six months earlier" episode of season one we see a flashback to Sylar's first kill, back when he still was working as a watch repairman. I guy who has telekinesis.

As an extension of this thread, does anyone have a full list of what powers Sylar now has? And how about Peter for that matter?

This is what I can think of off the top of my head...

Sylar
-"Learn" other powers
-Telekinesis
-Regeneration
-Supersonic Voice
-Laser Finger
-Super Hearing
-Melt Metal
-Super Cold/Freezing power
-Radiation Blast
-Paint the Future
-Retrocognition

Peter
-Copy Powers
-Teleport
-Time Travel
-Flight
-Invisibility
-Regeneration
-Super Strength
-Radiation Blast
-Electrical Blast
-Telepathy
-Paint the Future
-Telekinesis
-Regeneration
-Whatever power his mom has
-Whatever power Simone's father had

that's all I can remember right now. Does anyone have more?

I want to know how he chopped the head of the first guy he got powers from (the telekinetic), did he do it the old fashioned way with a knife?

Well if I remember correctly he hits him over the head with a clock or a candle stick, or something like that, then the scene cuts away so you never actually see what/how he does it.

Yeah.

In season 2 Sylar killed Candice by smashing a coffee cup against her head and cut her head open with the broken parts so I think Sylar made do with what he had at that time when he stole his first power.

Even if he did loose his telekinesis powers I'm sure it's a fairly common power in the Heroes' universe, easy enough for him to reacquire.

Wait, how the hell did he lose everything except his intuitive aptitude and telekinesis? I can understand the former, that's his original power. But the latter? Why the hell wouldn't he lose that too?

He didn't lose telekinesis through the Power of Bad Storytelling. It covers all the other issues mentioned (such as how he's able to rewire his brain after he "learns how things work, or what he did with all those brains before Claire).

I also want to know how he changes his brain to adapt to what he learns. Especially before he picked up telekinsis.

My theory is that he's a shapeshifter but hasn't yet realized it. Because he has the urge to kill people and look at their brains - which is a psychological thing, not a power - he realized that he could somehow shape his own brain in mimickry but doesn't realize that it goes far beyond that.
