Has any one ever tried to replicate Sulu's tea cup?

So, I've fallen down a rabbit hole thanks to George Takei mentioning that he actually drinks green tea everyday in an interview on the Late Show... I never knew that this aspect of Sulu's character was based upon him, rather than something the writers just invented. Or maybe it was just a lucky guess on their parts? Anyways, it seems that Pfaltzgraff were the original makers of the tea cup and saucer used in Undiscovered Country. They later made limited edition replicas in the 1990s. Also SDCC had them as an exclusive. They were both made in very limited quantities and are exceedingly expensive as a result!

Anyways, I did discover that the cup and saucer are from the Paltzgraff Hampton pattern, and you can get them here:

For a decent price. Exactly the same as the ones from the movie sans the USS EXCELSIOR NCC-2000 legend and the Starfleet delta logo.

What I'm wondering is: were the original props made specially by Pfaltzgraff? Or were they simply off the shelf products purchased by the art department, with some kind of decal added?

And has anyone tried to reproduce the prop on their own? If so, what did you use to recreate the Excelsior logo?

I could have sworn that there was a cross promotion in 1991 with Pfaltzgraff that offered Enterprise china. I'm willing to chalk it up to either wishful thinking, bad memory, or both. Except that's the only way that I knew the name Pfaltzgraff.

EDIT: OK, my memory is FINE.

But you're asking about Excelsior. (Which I could have sworn they did as well.)

(I also want the coffee mugs from Beyond.)

I don't remember where I got it, but I have an Enterprise coffee mug in that pattern. Somebody was selling them once.

I think I remember stacks of boxes of these things available at my local mall back in the day. It was either JC Penny or Sears - one of those legacy department stores. Still kicking myself in the ass for not getting some, but I was poor back then.

Right? Even if I had gotten one who knows if it would have survived until now.
