Greg Giraldo, RIP

Another celebrity has passed away. Comedian Greg Giraldo died from a pill overdose on September 29th. He was 44 years old. A lot of you might not know who he is, but he's well known as a regular on Comedy Central's celebrity roasts.

Earlier today, Gottfried went to his Twitter page and wrote, "If Greg Giraldo is cremated, will that be the 'Greg Giraldo Roast'?"

We spoke to Gilbert about the tweet ... who told us he has problems expressing his emotions -- but noted, "Greg can't say anything about it now ... I'm not worried about him calling and complaining."

And considering the man's sense of humor and career, I think Gilbert Gottfried's reaction was entirely appropriate. (I doubt any family he has appreciates it, though.)

That is sad news. I enjoyed his humor and always looked forward to his segments on those Roasts. I particularly hate to hear his death was due to an overdose. I suppose it could be accidental, but I don't know the facts. If it was intentional, it is just so sad....

I agree Gottfried's send off is appropriate, given the nature of his relationship to Giraldo and their comedic style. I'm sure his family understands. A guy like Giraldo would've appreciated it.

I heard about this last night and it was a surprise. I thought it might've been illicit drugs but I guess it's small comfort to the family he died from perscription drugs.
