Real life has been pretty hectic so I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this. I was doing some surfing last night and ran across a site that's sole purpose is to rebuild Geocities. You can image my pleasant surprise when I ran across my own Geocities sites as they existed when Geocities went down. The site is called Reocities: http://www.reocities.com/
Basically they've taken the URLs and changed the "g" in geocities to an "r" making it reocities. For example on geocities:
Whoa Nellie's Picard/Vash Romance Fan Fiction website was at:
http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Galaxy/7926/
You will now find the last version of the
Whoa Nellie's Picard/Vash Romance Fan Fiction website at:
http://www.reocities.com/TimesSquare/Galaxy/7926/

It was late so I didn't check every story on both my old sites but every link I did check worked. Anyone who lost stuff when Geocities went down or had a site on Geocities they liked to visit might want to look for it on Reocities. I'm not sure how much they managed to save before geocities disappeared but it's worth a shot if you're hunting something down and have the old url.
