Spoilers Futurama Season 12 (9) July 29th

I've seen some people (not here) confused thinking this is season 8.5, but according to one of the writers the production codes are labelled as Season 9, so internally at least it is season 9.

Season 8 is Season 11 on D+/Hulu because they have the TV cuts of the movies listed as seasons. And it looks like this release will be Season 12.

No. Don't hold your breath on one. Unless it's Star Wars or the MCU, Disney doesn't really seem to bother sticking any TV shows on physical media anymore.

Which is a damn shame since I own every episode of the show until the latest.
I think at this point physical media is on the way out, I just a story the other day stores like Target and Best Buy are cutting back or stopping carrying physical media, at least for DVDs and Blu-Rays.

Physical media is in a weird sort of limbo for TV shows at the moment. It did seem to be on the way out, than last year when the reports began circulating about streaming services not being so profitable, we began seeing streaming shows start to make their way to physical media that previously weren't. Like the Star Wars and MCU shows from Disney+ or For All Mankind from Apple.

Plus, with streaming services just dropping shows and films, more people are desperate to get physical copies. Deliberate or not, it's become a new version of Disney's fucking Vault.

Those are just two places, and not exactly the core of the physical media market. Wal-Mart, which is bigger then either of them, is still selling physical media, as is Amazon. Disney even just made a deal with Sony a few months ago to have Sony produce and distribute the physical media of Disney's DVD/Blu Ray products, so all the people being Chicken Little about the end of physical media are overreacting.

Sounds promising. I absolutely loved "Meanwhile" and I thought it was the best series finale to date. Even though I'm thrilled the show is back and telling new stories, I'm still glad we got that closure and I'm curious to see how they'll follow up on it now.
