First Contact... remastered on Amazon Prime?

So I've been watching the Trek films on Amazon Prime and I finally got to First Contact. Until now, the films have looked pretty much the same as on Blu-Ray, though some are cropped to fit 16x9 screens.

First Contact, on the other hand, I could tell right off the bat didn't look exactly like the Blu-Ray. It was a little brighter, the colors popped more, the contrast was a tad different. Could Paramount have snuck a 4K remaster in without announcing it? I seriously doubt it, but then again they did a 4K remaster of TWOK and if they were gonna do another one, chances are they'd pick another audience favorite.

These screenshots are less than perfect... top is from TrekCore, bottom is literally taken from my browser... these should not be used to judge sharpness, grain, or anything like that.

Curiouser and curiouser...

They don't look that different at first glance, picture area looks to be identical for instance.

The Amazon version has slightly boosted brightness/contrast, the Blu-ray version looks to have a slight teal shift to it (particularly noticeable in the first pair of screenshots, look at the white bits) and some edge enhancement/DNVR applied to it though I suspect both versions come from the same transfer and any differences were done in post.

Using an Amazon 4k device with the "Always HDR" setting on can make non HDR images pop/look brighter like this.

Generally it's not viewed as a good thing by purists, but sometimes I like it, sometimes not so much.
