First amendment audits, cool or not?

locborg

I had some diarrhea issues for the last few days, which gave me the opportunity to watch alot of first amendment audits on yt.

I was amazed about the possibility to insult police officers, without having to worry about a criminal charge. Where i come from, insulting a police officer will get you arrested, same goes for failure to produce id or even recording them.

Do you guys even understand the importance of being able to defend yourselves against law enforcement officers? Most of them seem to be stupid and aggressive (which is similar to where i come from).

My questions is: do you consider first amendmend auditors (at least the ones on youtube) to be weirdos or are they in fact heroes who defend your rights to free speech.

@locborg ,

As you have probably seen, I have changed your thread title. I had to look up the original term, as I was unfamiliar with it. It appears that it used to be entirely pejorative, although has migrated to be mostly just a standard term… but is still occasionally sometimes used in a pejorative sense. And from your phrasing, you are using it in more of a pejorative sense. We wouldn’t let you use the English equivalent in that specific context, so using it in German is also not acceptable.

I will refrain from issuing a warning, since there may be a cultural context I am unaware of. But please don’t do something similar again. (And although I don’t know how the word was pronounced, I’m assuming it was supposed to be a rhyme, but still not going to fly.)

I was going to write a serious reply in this thread but I decided that since I'd have to use extremely unhealthy levels of sarcasm, there wouldn't be much point.

I mean, come on. Most people here know where I personally would stand on an issue like this. So I'm just gonna let it ride. And that way, I don't have to get in trouble!

This feels like people being documented need more communication skills with public and how to deescalate situations. Put on a dumb smile, act pleasant, let them go about their business, move on. They make it a thing by making it a thing.
I don't respect the auditors but I'm also not American, so I could give a $#!+

My answer was sincere.

I support the right to publicize when rights are "assumed" away.
But many of these people can also be terribly irritating holes.

All auditors are annoying and provoke police interaction. However most audits also document misconduct which clearly goes out from police officers.

If recording in public places is a constitutional right, the police should deescalate these situations. Instead most of the police officers you can see in the videos try to force auditors to id or leave the public premises.

I assume you're talking about the US.

The ones I've seen are traffic stops where the driver is sickeningly subservient, in a Wormtail / Voldamort way, to the police officer stopping them. Seemingly if you aren't, and you were foolish enough to drive while black, you are likely to be shot.

Still waiting on a sincere reply. Long Island Audit is my personal hero

I hope that you are kidding.Sean is a convicted felon and a narcissistic bully. He thinks he knows the law(s) and that he's above it. He just does this for clicks and likes on YouTube, otherwise he'd be unemployed. He has defied court orders and has Doxed people that he was specifically told not to. He backed some bogus lawyer-by-phone "company" if you're stopped by police. The money disappeared and no "clients" ever got out of the ticket (or whatever) they were stopped for.
