Fantasy books focusing on Dwarves

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone knows of any fantasy books/series that deal primarily with dwarf culture/characters. Thanks.

The Markus Heitz Dwarves Trilogy probably does that, I haven't read it, but the title and covers suggest something. Heard they aren't great though.

Some books that feeature cool dwarf characters, but don't necesarily focus on the dwarves themselves are R.A. Salvatore's Drizzt series. Despite focusing on the Drow Drizzt Do'Urden, a lot of attention is paid to dwarf culture as Drizzt's best friend is the Dwarf King Bruenor and he largely lives among the dwarves.

Another fun set of Dwarves are the brothers Ivan and Pikel Bouldershoulder from Salvatore's Cleric Quintet (which I actually like better than any of his Drizzt stuff). The Bouldershoulder siblings would eventually find themselves integrated into the supporting cast of the Drizzt series as well.

I had a book may years ago, I think it was just titled "Dwarves".

It was written in a historical manner, about the discovery of an underground kingdom somewhere in England.

I can't find a single reference to it now. It was a good read, almost like a National Geographic book.

ETA: It is called Kingdom Of The Dwarfs, by Robb Walsh. I remember enjoying it, so I think I'll get another copy.

There's actually four books in the series and I found them immensely engaging with an interesting take on traditional Dwarf lore as well as astounding characters. Several times I was shocked while reading them because of plot twists I never saw coming. Sure they're not the best fantasy books ever but certainly better than some. Give the first one a try and see how ya like it.

The Hobbit as has been mentioned.

Saga of the Noble Dead series 2 takes places mostly within the Dwarven nations of that world. (In Shade and Shadow, Through Stone and Sea, Of Truth and Beasts.).

The Dragonlance series has some excellent novels and short stories that focus on dwarves.

I've read the Dwarven Nations trilogy and it's excellent.

One of the Heroes of the Lance, as the original core group of characters is known as in the original trilogy of novels, is Flint Fireforge. He's a bit of a curmudgeon, but is best friends with, and mentors of, Tanis Half-Elven and Tasslehoff Burrfoot (a Kender).

The original Dragonlance novels were in conjunction with a series of AD&D game modules that take place on the world of Krynn, and it's an epic adventure/quest involving the forces of Good, Evil, and Neutrality and there are some very intriguing characters.

You can read the Dwarven Nations books alone if you want, but they'll mean more if you read the Dragonlance Chronicles trilogy first:

Dragons of Autumn Twilight
Dragons of Winter Night
Dragons of Spring Dawning

There's a fourth book, Dragons of Summer Flame, that takes up 25 years later, but there isn't much mention of the Dwarven peoples in that one.
