DVR Idiocy

Cox doesn't use the same DVR in all of its markets. Here, they use Motorola boxes. In other areas, they use Scientific Atlanta boxes, which seem to have most of the problems I've heard about (such as SWC's).

I have had Scientific Atlanta boxes for ever, and have only ever had 1 problem with the box.

Every electronic device has an off switch: removal of the source of power. Don't tell me that you can't unplug a DVR box.

Does it have an "off" switch?

DVRs can technically be turned off, but it doesn't really do that. All that happens is that the video and audio outputs are muted. The actual box keeps running. This is because a DVR is always recording something.

My Comcast DVR sucks. Turn it off and it can't turn itself on to record programs. Which also meansd you can't turn the DVR off while recording either.
