So a funny thing happened last evening. I bumped into a dead controller and heard the telltale beep of my PS5 powering on… it was the dual sense edge that I had mourned for weeks before eventually replacing. A few months ago I had spilled a drink on it and nothing I did could get it working again. It was so completely bricked that I thought I had fried its brain and had set to the side.
The only thing I can conclude is that the recent controller updates unbricked my controller. So if you have a dead DualSense laying around you might see if the updates have resurrected it. This one was an Edge but I doubt the standard model is much different and since Sony announced they’re raising the prices on controllers it’s worth a shot. Had I not accidentally bumped the PS button on this one I would’ve never known that Sony had necromanced mine.
