This series is one the few mainstream novels I'm into but I absolutely love them. They're completely engrossing page turners!
For those unaware the two authors together write a series of thriller novels usually starring Special Agent Pendergast, a modern day effete Sherlock Holmes. But they also usually write a solo novel each year as well which aren't part of the larger connected continuity. Their early books usually involved monsters or lost creatures, but their more recent works tend to rely on purely human adversaries.

I just finished the most recent book, Lincoln Child's Terminal Freeze. I really enjoyed it! Without going into huge spoilers this is the first book in a long time to have a non-human adversary which I absolutely loved. I missed their more X-Files-esque stories. It was about a team of scientists and documentary filmmakers in Alaska that find a frozen creature in the ice that the Native Americans warn will bring death and fun stuff ensues. I tore through the book in just two days which is really fast for me... every chapter had a great twist on the end and the book created a great sense of dread and tension as always.
Their next combo novel comes out on May 12th. Can't wait!
Are there any other Lincoln/Child fans out there? What books are your favorite? I enjoy all of them, and while I'd say the more recent books are better written, I'm disappointed they never have actual monsters/creatures anymore. I remember reading The Relic back in middle school at night and it scared the crap out of me! Too bad the movie was so... meh. Actually every one of their books is just dying to be made into a movie. They're all so dramatic and fast paced and have such great scenes and stories.
I even enjoy all of the solo author books as well. Everyone of them has something special and unique about them. However I do remember being really pissed off at Tyrannsaur Canyon though, because there were NO dinosaurs in it! I spent the whole book waiting for a T-Rex to be found living in the canyonlands but no! It was just human bad guys! Sigh. I also vaguely recall being disappointed with Death Match but I don't remember a thing about the book.
The only book of theirs I haven't read is Lincoln Child's first book Jennie from way back in 1994. Apparently it's not a thriller at all but just a little character drama.
If I have one common complaint about their books, it's that every single book has the typical hard-headed arrogant asshole authority figure who refuses to believe the hero's crazy theory and throws up unnecessary obstacles. But that's just as much a staple of 24 as well!
Also, for those of you familiar with the Preston/Child books, could you recommend other authors who have a similar style? I'd love to get more of a page turning thriller fix, preferably something with paranormal overtones (but still realistic).
