Dominion Wars Technical Help

Dominion Wars is known to not work on certain video cards. The following Video cards are confirmed compatible:
Code: 
nVidia: TNT2~GeForce FX 5900(with old drivers)
ATI: All Radeon cards
SiS 630 Integrated graphics
Intel 900 series integrated Graphics will not work with DW, as well as nVidia GeForce 6100~7900 series. If you have nvidia 8200 and later cards, please reply your experience with DW as I don't have many information about that.

If you have a v1.04 disc, you don't need any patch. There are different version of DW that require different patches:
Code: 
US version 1.01: need US 1.01-1.04 patch
Europe version 1.03: need Europe 1.03-1.04 patch
German version 1.03: need German 1.03-1.04 patch
Do not download or use the v1.05 patch which will broke game. After patched, set compatibility mode to Windows98/Me if you are using Windows XP. No other patches are needed.


  • DW requires at least one CD/DVD drive. If you have a laptop, use daemon-tools or alcohol 52% to emulate a CD drive. You can use no-cd exe, but a CD/DVD drive is still necessary.

  • DW doesn't like multiple monitors, even if you have only one monitor connected, but with two or more in device manager. Check your device manager and remove unused monitors.

  • DW will not run on Vista.
 
i never finished the game... now i have a new computer with vista and can't play it... that makes me a sad space panda...
 
Did Dominion Wars ever work? Correctly? I remember waiting for that game to come out. When it did, we tried to play while waiting for the next patch to be released.
 
ugh, you're killing me with these posts... i want to play... but i can't... i wonder if it'll work with the next version of windows...
 
Dominion Wars always worked for me ...
Granted, I haven't tried it on my new laptop ... but also, don't have the game with me.
I think it can also depend on the type of OS you are trying to run it off.
Try compatibility modes.

The US version appears to be the most stable one though.

No. It will not work with Windows 7, which is based on Vista.

It is commonly misunderstanded that Windows 7 has better software compatibility than Vista. It doesn't. If you can not run a program on Vista, it will not work with Windows 7.
 
I could never even get it to run on XP! I keep and old desk top with Windows ME around just so I can play it.

Hello,
If you have the PC game "Dominion Wars" and winxp, please help if you can play this game in your PC/laptop.

How to report test results:
Just post your video card and report if it runs or crashed.

Example:
ATi mobility Radeon 9700: works
nVidia TNT2: works
nVidia GeForce2 MX440: works
SiS 630: works
Intel 915: not working
