I got to admit when I returned to the internet a month ago this was a nice surprise. I have fun being able to go back and watch old games, in part because I think I enjoyed sports more back then than I do today. Baseball is the only sport I like as much today as I did back then. It's great fun to go watch Barry Sanders or John Elway again or Micheal Jordan or Charles Barkley.

I watch old baseball games all the time. I have World Series collections that go back to 1975. So yeah, old games can be a lot of fun.

But those are from DVD collections I have. On YouTube, I'm more a fan of old sports FIGHTS.

I actually remember that brawl between Texas and Toronto because I was watching it live.
Do you ever watch any old regular season games? I know I watched a old game and reminded me how much I miss John Miller doing baseball or with football hearing Summeral and John Madden do a NFL game or Keith Jackson do a college football game.

I'm an English fan of MLB, NFL & NBA so when I discovered old games on YouTube I got a bit giddy. I've seen some great stuff like the Bronx is burning World Series game and the snow plough game between NE and Miami. I also love watching any game with Kareem Abdul Jabbar. Any recommendations?

I got a few. Almost any game with Micheal Jordan in is going to be fun. There is a reason why he is considered the best of all time though I would especially watch some of his early years from 1986 to 1993 were he was at his prime in terms of athletic ability.
Also any of the 80's Celtics vs Lakers stuff is fun because they had a great rivary and if you like college basketball you should check out Duke vs Kentucky in the 1991NCAA tourment because for a long time many considered that the greatest college basketball game of all time.

As for football you got to watch Barry Sanders from the Detroit Lions play. He was IMO the funnest NFL player of all time with Brett Fave being the second most fun player to watch.

Where on Youtube are the games located? Do you just do a search?
I usually just do a random search. I might type something like "Classic NFL" games or I might go with specific team such as "1990's Green Bay Packers full games." Also on my Youtube I notice that the poster's who have the games tend to stick to my front page so it's easy to look at the entire stock of games. Sometimes NFL games can be tricky because of Copyright laws and i'm not sure why some games you can watch and others you can't but their still seems to be plenty you can watch.

I like to watch old billiards games and tournaments, sometimes. Only mentioning it because it's a "sport" (even if I consider it more of a game) that nobody has mentioned so far. :)

Clips and highlights sometimes. But I can't bring myself to sit and watch a 4 hour game that I already know the outcome of.

It's hard for me to get into sports if I know the result, but I'd be interested if I could see some of Larry Bird's championship games, or to watch sports from the 60s just to see how different the sport was back then. An NBA game with no 3 point line, an NFL game to see if it really was as badass and physical as all the older people complain it currently isn't, a tennis game with wooden racquets.

Football was certainly more physical because it was that way when I started watching in the late 80's. I think it had just as much to do with how the game was played as it did with the men playing it. Since most teams would be running teams you would simply have more plays of just having a running back carry the ball and be tackled constantly. Plus you had defensive backs who could nail wide receivers going down the middle of the field. Plus the violence was glamorized were today they try to avoid it to make themselves look more respectful.

I think the reason for reduced physicality has more to do with injury prevention, both not losing star power and the concussion controversy. But it'd be cool to see a game from the 60s or 70s to see just how physical it used to be.

I watch old NFL, USFL, CFL and college games.

Last night I watched the Cowboys vs. Dolphins from November 1978. It was an absolute treat to watch Bob Griese and Roger Staubach duel it out.

Same. Highlights are fun to watch, but I can't watch something even on a short delay. If it's not live, it's unwatchable to me.

But the game isn't live. I can't seem to get excited about a play, no matter how thrilling, that's already done.
That has never bothered me but I got to admit one advantage that you might agree with is that when you watch a game on delay you also have to deal with the issue of somehow trying to avoid seeing who wins which can be tricky. You have to remind people you haven't watched the game and you got to hope you don't see the score while watching something like the news or even turning on something like Youtube. It's like not wanting to know spoilers but the rest of the world doesn't care.

Well, I live in the UK and coverage of US sports has always been spotty so pretty much every game I watch is new to me. I started watching NFL in '85 and we never got full games only highlights. Same with MLB around this time. I have a lot of rich sporting history to catch up on still. Watching the '74 NBA All Star game or an early '80's regular season MLB or NFL matchup is all new to me and I love it.

Just for the hell of it, because I didn't think Youtube would have it, I did a a search for the USC - UCLA football game played in 1967. Not only did they have the full game, they had the original broadcast with Chris Shenkel calling plays and Bud Wilkinson doing color. I was blown away by this. Graphics were so primitive in those days.

Game featured '67 Heisman winner, Gary Beban with UCLA, and future ('68) Heisman winner, O.J. Simpson, who scored the winning touchdown on a magnificent 64 yard run in the 4th quarter. SC won the national championship that year as well.

Great memories. I was at this game.

You were at that game?

You're a bit older than I thought....

My family has had USC season tickets since before I was born (Grandpa went on the GI Bill after WWII). We went to USC games like other families go camping or fishing. Man those were great times.

My favorite early memory was the Comeback against Notre Dame. I was 8 years old, and had the most incredible time. The Coliseum was crazy in that second half.
