Do members of your family look alike?

Today i went to the scattering of my aunt's ashes. While there someone commented on how much my nephew and my cousin Megan's son looked alike. These two young men are about the same age and are second cousins and I have to admit that they could be pass off as brothers because of their similar looks.

Also, because I am researching the family tree, I recently was sent a photo of my grandfather's uncle Arthur. I was surprised to see how much this man looked like my cousin Tom. Tom is actually the great-great nephew of Arthur.

Does anyone else here have such strong resemblance in their family?

I found a picture of my great great grandfather on my mother side. Was like looking at myself, only a bit shorter and with a mustache. Kinda funny since I'm so much darker then everyone else in the family and we finally found where that and my nose came from when looking at that picture.

When I was thirteen, I found an old picture of my mother around that age. I was shocked at the similarity. Except for the clothes and very serious expression on her face, it could have been me in that picture.

People often think my sister and I are twins. I think we sound more alike than we look, however.

If I look in a mirror too long it's my Dad's face that jumps back at me, it's quite eerie really

I look a lot like my dad - to the point where strangers used to be able to tell he was my dad without any obvious clues. Two of my three sisters look a lot alike, with the eldest of them being sort of the odd one out (she's short and they're both very tall). The oldest sister looks a lot like my mom while the other two look slightly more like me and my dad (albeit with blond hair).

Two of my cousins and I used to get mistaken for brothers all the time, though that could have been as much due to us being inseparable best friends growing up and very close in age as it was the fact that we resemble each other.

I also look a lot like my grandpa when he was in his late teens / early 20s (there's a picture of him after joining the Army in WWII that everyone remarks looks very much like me. Likewise I share a resemblance to some of my uncles.

My Dad and his brother and sister all strongly resemble my paternal grandmother.

My older brother and I strongly resemble Dad.

My two younger brothers are different story. My younger brother resembles my paternal grandfather. My youngest brother resembles Mom.

Not sure how that all shook out, genetically.

Two men from history who look edalike, amd who were on at least one occasion mistaken for each other, were these two

Can anyone identify them?

That is correct. I am not certain but I think that the only time they meet was in 1909 when Nicholas and his family made a state visit to England. I believe that during that visit some duchess, who knew King George quite well, went up to Nicholas and started to talk to him thinking he was King George. I believe that Nicholas was quite amused by the mistake.

I am my mother's carbon copy as far as facial features and voice go. Everything else is mine, and I resemble no one else that I know of in the family. Oh, but an older cousin swears I have the body of my great-grandmother.

So, where do you keep the body hidden?!?

;)

I look a lot like my maternal grandfather, having looked at old pictures of him from his military days.

According to my mum, I've apparently inherited his personality quirks too. This is reassuring. :bolian:

My next younger brother and I look like our dad. My youngest brother looks more like my mom and her dad. My oldest girl looks like my wife and our youngest one looks like my SIL - down to the lock of extremely blonde hair coming off the same place on the scalp.

I also found this similarity by accident.

Actually now that I think about it, no one in my family looks alike. Especially my immediate family. My parents both have very dark brown hair, but three of their children are blonde. My parents and two of their children have brown eyes, the other two have blue eyes. My mom is very tall, my dad is very short, and all of the children are tall except for me. We all have different body shapes, etc. Pretty much nothing is alike except for the shape of our eyes.

My dad and I look very similar indeed, in terms of facial features. We've actually been mistaken for brothers in the past. More flattering to him, than to me, mind you! Though hopefully I've inherited enough good genes to also get to stay looking pretty young when I get to his age.

I did pick up some of my mother's morphological characteristics though in terms of build, limbs, etc. I've also got the receding hairline that men have on her side of the family.

I look a lot like my Mom and we have the same voice. My middle sister looks EXACTLY like my Mom did when she was young; it's kinda creepy.

Oddly enough, my loser-sister, who was adopted, looks and acts a LOT like my Dad. I think the body language is so similar that it makes it appear that they look more alike than they do. But they're very much the same in regards to personality--unfortunately.

I've often had people I don't even know come up to me and say "You look just like a J-------", so there's obviously some family resemblence that people notice. I don't see it, though.

me, my eldest sister and my mum all look alike. the younger of my older sisters looks more like our dad.

me and look-alike sis were once mistaken for twins despite a ten year age gap between us and me being a good 5 inches taller and her being stockier.

My sister and I look quite a bit alike- when I was in high school and she was finishing grad school, we were often mistaken for twins. We're eight years apart.

I look more like my aunt than my mother. It's weird.
