Get a blood test.

I have always loved the smell of gasoline. Any petroleum/fume/gas type smell really, but especially gasoline. I am a little amazed I never became a huffer. The last month or so I have been a little gasoline crazy though. I actually occasionally got the weird urge to drink it or pour it on me.

Yesterday my doctor called. My most recent blood test was good except for one thing. My hemoglobin was way down. I am severely anemic. Any lower and my doctor said he would have sent me to the hospital for a blood transfusion. So I am looking up anemia online and I find a ton of stories of people saying the same thing about gasoline. Turns out one of the symptoms is Pica where people crave weird substance like chemicals or dirt.

Weird that so many things that might have once been considered crazy or supernatural have a medical cause. Like people with Porphyria who crave ingesting blood being the origin of the vampire mythos. Kind of bummed now though. It's been a long time since I been high maybe a gas high would have been the best I ever had.

Personally, I think the only thing that needs to get high is your iron level. That might account for your need to get high, as well as your cravings for "food."

I do hope you get your iron levels up and get better.

People can crave all sorts of things when they are anemic.

When my sister was pregnant she had an overwhelmimg desire to eat dirt, and also paper whereas I only craved such things as porridge and eggs.

Glad you know the cause of your fixation so you can deal with it by taking more iron and not by drinking gasoline
