Disney Pixar's "Wally"

Isn't the robot from this film a copy-off of Short Circuit? I'm sorry, but I think "Wally" is a spitting image of Johnny 5.

I don't necessarily think so. Wall-E looks small, cute and unsophisticated. Number 5 was big, had a more human personality, and was pretty annoying.

I guess we'll see when the movie comes out.

Well, I'm not sure about "Wally", but I am sure that WALL-E isn't a "rip-off". ;)

But seriously.... "Johnny Five" is a pretty recent and well-known figure in movie robot history. Maybe not exactly iconic, but familiar nonetheless. Pixar is too smart to go that route.

I love Pixar, but they seem to be bringing over the WORST of the Disney creative team.

The movies are all getting the Disney 'we're gonna treat you as if you all have 70 I.Q.s' attitude.

I'm seeing more and more of it with each film they release.

Yeah, Disney's been down for the count for awhile. Hopefully new management there can turn things around.

I see what you are. You are one of those close minded people who think all robots look alike. Just like all good southern racists think all black people look alike.

Showing your true colors, that's what you are doing.

Ratattouille certainly wasn't for the 70 IQ set. It was one of the best films of 2007.

I actually thought that was one of the weakest Pixar films ever. The story was pants, the animation not up to standard and the characters had nothing going for them.

Can't remember if I watched all of it.

This is such a silly post, I half expect you're taking the piss.

Even if you didn't care for it, you can hardly claim it was for the 70 IQ set.

Ratatouille is the best Pixar film to date and one of the best animated films of 2007. The story was superb and easily Pixar's boldest effort and the characters (in particular the villain) rather good. If Wall-E's half as good, I'm happy. :)

Other than you lot, I haven't met anyone who liked it.

In fact, before now, I thought it generally bombed! Was it really successful?

Boldest effort... yeah, I'd say so. I tend to think "The Incredibles" was pretty divergent from all of the other films prior, with its more mature story. "Ratatouille" did win an Oscar, and personally the look of its animation was perhaps the best of any of the Pixar films to date. The story however .... just didn't quite grab me in the way that so many of the others did. I'm not sure why. Peter O'Toole's turn as Anton Ego was marvelous and possibly the best aspect of the film for me.

"Ratatouille" may not have been my personal favorite but it was quite certainly an achievement for which Pixar has every right to be proud.
