I’ll agree that there are charisma problems with DIS, as the show just hasn’t hit the levels of TNG or higher in the social media age, considering that it’s the tentpole show. And that the show is produced with little lighting.

I also understand your point with that test that you refer to. Although it’s a different age now and its the responsibility of TPTB to adapt to the times. You can call it "wokeism" if you want. But that genie isn’t going back in the bottle, whether you like it or not.

At S5, you just have to accept what the show is. That included a reluctance to conform to established canon and how its produced.
