Did V end with a cliffhanger? (Spoilers, obviously)

Since this is by necessity a spoiler thread, I'm separating it from the cancellation discussion.

I'm actually not interested in plot details myself, but simply a Yes/No: did V end on a cliffhanger, or was it able to resolve its major storylines (or at least do so in a way that allowed the series to end)?

I only watched until about midseason at which point I decided to wait till the DVD - scheduling for the most part, as I missed 3 episodes in a row and had no time to catch up. But if history has repeated itself and the series ended on another big "to be continued" like the 1984 version did, I probably won't bother spending the money on the box set. Considering confidence was fairly high that the show might have continued around the time season 2 would have wrapped, the chances of the writers rolling the dice are pretty high.

Granted, a To Be Continued might be preferable to a "cram it all in" wrap up like Threshold did, but at least by doing so the Threshold writers were able to give their storyline a little closure.

Yes, it ended on a cliffhanger, sort of. Unless you assume the true ending of the story is...
the V's win. Which is an ending I'm perfectly happy with.

So if your question is actually, if I watch the show, will I be frustrated, the answer is: not necessarily.

Without giving anything anyway, the second season definitely ended on a cliffhanger . . ..

^Indeed, I was quite satisfied with how they left off Tyler's storyline...

Seriously though, yes, it was meant as a cliffhanger and not one of those 11th hour finales cancelled shows sometimes shove out.

I agree with Temis's interpretation. Had the series continued, the finale would certainly have constituted a cliffhanger. But as it stands, the finale works pretty effectively as a definitive ending -- just a rather depressing one.

To be honest, I didn't see a reasonable way they could get out of that ending anyway. Anna had gained total mental control over virtually everyone on Earth, and her fleet had the planet totally surrounded. I'd call that a very decisive victory.

Well they would just try to kill anna somehow and hope that lisa (not lisa2) gets in power and they leave, that is the only way. There could also be a powerful enemy of the V's that come to help us.

They pulled a Blakes 7, huh? Well done.

Well, no, most of the protagonists didn't die, it's just that the Visitors gained pretty decisive mind control over 99.9999999 percent of the human race and had an unbeatable tactical advantage.

And the phrase "Well done" has no applicability to anything in this series aside from Morena Baccarin's acting.

Don't have to kill the characters to pull a B7 IMO - just having the bad guys win pretty much does it.

^Well, the key difference is that the ending of Blake's 7 was actually good. At least, it was good compared to this.

So I take it that Marc Singer's cameo never happened, then? Was Jane Badler the only one from 'V: TOS'?

Did she at least look good?

I haven't seen it yet, but I believe Mark Singer's character was introduced in the season finale, with the intention of him becoming a recurring character if the show had continued.
As for Jane Badler here's a BTS photo of her filming episode 6.

^Right, Singer appeared briefly in the finale. He was the head of a huge, high-tech resistance underground that had a ton of resources at its disposal, yet which had been totally absent during the first two seasons of the show, apparently content to leave all of Earth's resistance activities in the hands of four losers in a basement. It was a sloppy retcon in order to dump the failed original format of the show and replace it with something that would theoretically have been more effective. But with such a stupid beginning, it's just as well that it won't be continued.
