Did the Enterprise stop the mirror universe from happening ?

well we all know that in FC that the enterprise goes back in time to stop the Borg from interfering with the timeline. And In the course they interact with zeframe Cochrane. Also. They told him that the Vulcans are friendly and they are not here to inslave earth. In the mirror universe when the Vulcans land the Cochrane just shoots the Vulcans and raids there ship thus starting the beginning of the Terran empire. So the question is did the enterprise e crew cause the “bad” universe not to happenby tell Cochrane the Vulcan are good people. I mean Cochrane was a little crazy and I’m sure he watched alien takeover movies so the fact he would shoot aliens that could takeover earth in its very weaken state is plausible. How could the enterprise E crew original first contact when they wouldn’t be alive? Well as captain Janeway would say “Time travel. Since my first day on the job as a Starfleet captain I swore I'd never let myself get caught in one of these godforsaken paradoxes - the future is the past, the past is the future, it all gives me a headache.”

...Which is why "their" Cochrane had the sawed-off shotgun in the first place.

Although the opening credits do a pretty good job of showing how the Mirror Universe isn't all that different from ours anyway.

Also, there are Deep Space Nine episodes in the mirror universe, after the events of First Contact. Which indicates that nothing changed and nothing was altered about the mirror universe by any of the events of the movie.

As others have said, the mirror universe is parallel to the prime universe. It is not an alternative timeline, as such. ;)

Ok give me a break time travel and temporal mechanics can be difficult
Yes, they can be, but our point is that the Mirror Universe doesn't involve time travel and temporal mechanics. Because it's a parallel universe, not an alternate timeline.

I’m sorry i made the darn mistake of thinking that. you guys don’t have to respond any more. I get the picture.

You admittedly got unceremoniously crapped on in this thread, and perhaps unfairly...because I must admit...the theory is somewhat plausible.

It's not like human history up until that point wasn't savage...and if Cochrane and company were paranoid of ECON attacks and such...this could very well have been the point.

Sometimes I've theorized that the timeline diverged (thus creating the alternate Mirror Universe reality) when Edith Keeler was saved allowing the Axis powers to win WWII.

That could explain it. Good theory

It is indeed possible. No-one is here to say you're right or wrong @Gabriel, we all have our own theories :) There is actually nothing in Star Trek to say the mirror universe isn't an alternative timeline, it's just that it isn't *traditionally* seen as being in the same catagory as those occasions when the time line is altered, because, unlike most of Trek's time travel, it's the only one that is presented to us as happening continuous to events in the prime timeline. Ie, events in the mirror universe continue to evolve and change irregardless of involvement from Prime timeline protagonists, rather than being "corrected" and diverging back into the main time line (as is the case for most of Star Trek's temporal episodes).

It really would be kind of cool to see a historical timeline of the MU. You could even envision a documentary-style miniseries on CBSAA, looking like a real documentary, but based on the history of Earth and the Terran Empire in the MU.

That would be a lot of fun!

TNG's "Parallels" is widely considered an exception to Trek's usual time travel "rules", in suggesting every slight difference creates a splinter parallel universe of its own, but the JJ Abrams movies run with this theory also. So, there's nothing to technically suggest the mirror universe isn't also one of those splinters, albeit the only one that proves accessible to being jumped into easily by our prime timeline protagonists... :)

I once wrote out one for the Yesterday's Enterprise universe, chronicling how events after the removal of the Enterprise-C eventually led to where the episode began with escalating tensions between the Klingons and Federation being orchestrated by the Romulans behind the scenes (which I theorized is why they attacked Narendra III in the first place). Something similar for the MU would be kind of cool. :)
