did the dominion keep trying to send ships through the worm hole?

i would imagine that the jem hadar would be sending 1 ship or shuttle in every few days to keep testing the waters

the jem hadar would gladly give up their lives to test the worm hole for the war effort

presumably the worm hole aliens kept getting rid of them

I suspect that side of the wormhole didn't open?

I think the Dominion on the other side didn't want to lose any more ships after they lost a huge fleet, so its likely that they waited on the Gamma side of the wormhole, waiting for a signal from Dominion controlled-DS9 that it was alright to come through (If it was Fed-Controlled the mines would be there again). The Prophets wouldn't send the ships away again, unless Sisko pleaded them too, so that wouldn't factor in.

If the Dominion had taken DS9 again, it is likely that the Feds would have lost the war.

While I agree as to the reasoning why the Dominion wouldn't send ships, I have a feeling that with Sisko's influence, the Prophets decided to keep the wormhole a no-go zone for the Dominion until told otherwise, since they were now in the game on the side of Bajor.

I wonder how their actions factored into their understanding of how to act in a linear timeline. Imagine the hassle that may of been saved if they had just gone back through time and wiped out every Dominion ship that had come through before then?

The whole thing about the prophets being outside of linear time and not understanding it made no sense. If time was not a factor to them why did they not know who Sisko was when he first discovered the wormhole? later he is supposedly part prophet and was born for a purpose yet they didn't know who he was? how can the pahwraiths infect the wormhole and access be blocked if the wormholes aliens don't exist in linear time??

I never liked the idea of them being outside linear time.

I mean Siskos apparent first discovery of the wormhole should not have been the first time for the prophets, they are outside linear time so have already experienced at the exact same moment all future encounters with him and others.

The writers attempt to portray none linear beings failed miserably. I really see no reason why they needed to be portrayed as none linear.

^ I agree it posed some challenges to effective storytelling later on, but IMO the "non-linear" nature of the Prophets gave us the best pilot episode of any Trek series, thanks to the exploration of what it means to be a human (here, Sisko) who's unable to move on with his life because he exists in the past. Really wonderful stuff that --again, IMO-- was worth the headaches caused later on by the plot holes that you mention.

I loved the idea of them being outside linear time.

I HATED the idea of them having manipulated Sisko's birth. For many reasons, including the fact that the way they used Sarah's body against her will and manipulated Joseph makes them look like complete assholes, but the show's writers never seemed to understand that and kept treating them as a force of goodness.

i understand not wanting to waste more ships
they'd be sending probes and shuttles 100% sure
top priorty to serve the founders wish

and they wished to control the alpha quadrant

I wonder if there was a Dominion warfleet two years into the seventy year trip when the war ended.

...And whether it turned back or increased speed when the news of the peace treaty reached it?

Sending a fleet on a 70 year journey is a bit extreme as in the end it would simple leave them with the same problem, a force isolated from the main Dominion industrial complex. Better to just keep their general advanced towards the AQ, absorbing systems and other races.
