Deanna Troi's appearance in Voyager

TroiFan4ever

Commander

It gets on my nerves that Reginald Barclay got to be in like several Voyager episodes but Deanna Troi only got to be in three.

Why was that? Did the Voyager crew think Barclay was more useful or something? I just wish Troi was in the finale. Barclay got to be in the finale! GRRRR!

Barclay was annoying as CRAP! Geez! Now if Marina Sirtis got to reprise her Troi role in "Endgame", that would've been the bomb.

Why were Barclay and Troi on the USS Voyager anyway? Did the E-Enterprise come in contact with the Voyager or something? I haven't seen Voyager in a while but from what I recall, Barclay was undergoing a Pathfinder project and Troi was helping him do it.

I forgot. Can somebody ID me the episode LeVar Burton not only directs but also reprises his role as Geordi LaForge?

Correct. They helped with the Pathfinder project. Neither was ever "on" Voyager.

"Timeless" is the episode directed by LeVar Burton, and he also makes an appearance.

1) They hadn't thought of it sooner?

2) Barclay wasn't on the E-E, and neither was Troi. Reggie Bee was working on the Pathfinder Project to get in touch with Voyager. Reggie Bee wasn't on Voyager, per se, he was unsurprisingly, on the holodeck.

3) Geordi shows up as the Captain of the USS Challenger in Timeless.

EDIT:

D'oh, ninja'd

Geordi is in Timeless. Easy to remember because I love the episode. (double ninja'd)

And I didn't like Troi or Barclay appearing in VOY. They were fine in TNG when they had their own characters to play off of, but they had nobody to create any dynamic with on VOY, because it was basically just them together. Always felt forced to me. And I think having Troi in both Endgame and TATV would have been too much!

For my tastes, we had more than enough of Troi in TNG. I wish she'd never appeared in VOY but at least her appearances there, as lousy as they were, weren't the same level of utter crap that her appearance on ENT was.

Though I liked Troi best in VOY and FC (or should I say, I actually liked her in VOY and FC) WHY would you want her in Endgame. What for? Who cares? It's not TNG, it's VOY. Enough with the shoehorning, the universe is not that small.

Now some of this is spillover rage on my part because of TATV which makes me want to vomit.

I am not a fan of Troi on Voyager. Didn't add anything to the show, and it didn't really do much for the character, either.

I liked Troi a lot more on Voyager than I did on TNG. Yeah, in the later seasons she improved, but I felt like on Voyager, we actually got to see Troi as a counselor instead of queen of the obvious, and I felt it kind of connected "home" and what we saw in First Contact to Voyager's travels in the Delta Quadrant. Would have loved to see her in more episodes, but Pathfinder and Lifeline (And I think she was in one other one but I can't be sure) were great and she added a ton to each.

Blame kim.

It was that dipshit dinks fault.

If he had clapped the old bird in irons, and threw her in the brig like he was supposed to, to save himself and the rest of the universe from being demolished by a devastating paradox... Then Admiral Janeway would have been put under psychiatric evaluation for long enough to decide if she was batshit or an asshole.

Dee and kathy in an interrogation cell yelling at each other for the better part of a double episode about why she has to save her crew form the letters of history.

A two woman play.

Now that would have been awesome.

Go **** yourself Kim.

Yes Queen of the Obvious, that's a good description. It frustrated me that the character was so much more likable in FC and VOY.

Marriage changes a woman.

Besides, what was thing in TNG about her mother and how the Betazoidian sexdrive tripples when they enter middle age?

Her husband was probably running scared.

In the early TNG seasons she was more of a device to explain technical and scientific to the viewer by wearing the bunny suit and acting thick as pig shit. She once had to ask during a senior crew meeting what an antimatter breach was- and she was a LT. Commander! Bridge staff! Heir to the holy rings of Betazed.... I digress.

Troi will always be my favourite character in Trek ever, it didn't help Marina Sirtis when the writers made her intelligent one week -then stupid the next 4. As soon as she wore proper uniform she became brainy.

I liked Barclay's character- but him and Troi as patient and counsellor in any show just wasn't great TV.

?????????

As... far as I remember... they were on the ship??? Were they not?

Okay, I didn't see Barclay on the E-Enterprise. But Troi? Unless it was a hologram all along, yes she was??? I believe VOY took place within the time span of from FC to N.

I didn't like Barclay at all. The man talks too much. He's just really annoying, especially in TNG 7's Genesis episode where he was talking super fast.

For my tastes, we had more than enough of Troi in TNG. I wish she'd never appeared in VOY but at least her appearances there, as lousy as they were, weren't the same level of utter crap that her appearance on ENT was.

Marina Sirtis, if you happen to be reading this, please don't be offended but...

I'm glad they picked her of all others to be in TATV but it didn't really look like her at all. She looked more like a cosplayer. Mind you, Troi never helped the ENT characters. She was just helping Riker through the Pegasus stuff. Plus, the finale was the only episode of ENT she was in.

Troi could've helped with the Endgame story.

Though I liked Troi best in VOY and FC (or should I say, I actually liked her in VOY and FC) WHY would you want her in Endgame. What for? Who cares? It's not TNG, it's VOY. Enough with the shoehorning, the universe is not that small.

Why would you want freakin' Barclay in Endgame! But I guess it doesn't matter to the people who actually like Barclay.

And you're right. It's not TNG. But it is kind of interesting when characters from one series make appearances in other series. It wasn't TNG when the producers and writers thought, "Hey! For the fans, let's have Sirtis, Burton, and Shultz reprise their roles in VOY!" But they were there, and I'm glad they were.

The Barclay and Troi stuff was a waste. They were annoying in TNG.

Okay, if I watch TNG outside of Season 7, I'd probably see whateveryone was talking about when they complain about Troi stating the obvious. But I would still like her. She's my eye candy, hence why she's on my avatar.

Would have loved to see her in more episodes, but Pathfinder and Lifeline (And I think she was in one other one but I can't be sure) were great and she added a ton to each.

Agreed! If I was a VOY writer, she'd be in a lot more episodes.

Inside Man.

Yes Queen of the Obvious, that's a good description. It frustrated me that the character was so much more likable in FC and VOY.

And TNG season 7 and Generations.

Marriage changes a woman.

Dark Page?

Yeah, mine too! I just wish Genesis wasn't the only episode she had to watch the bridge.

No. Neither character was ever on Voyager proper. In an early episode, Barclay appeared in Doc's "mind" and, another time, he was on a holodeck. Once, his hologram was projected onto the real ship, but that was a Ferengi ruse.

The first adventure was wiped from history somehow because Janeway claimed to have no idea who Reg Barcaly was, over the hump into the afterglow of Pathfinder.

I've always blamed that to some timetravel hiccup muddying personal histories, but Occums razor would suppose that Janeway just drank heavily when no one was looking.

The first adventure was probably wiped from Doc's memory when they "rebooted" him in... uh... whatever episode that was.

We're also not sure exactly what all the real crew saw in that episode except for maybe the ending bit.

The Doctor was never rebooted that we were told about.

They paired off some programs to send him back to Earth, but he might have been re-attuned with all that baggage... They were thinking about rebooting him in Swarm when he reached the critical limits of his programs memory capacity, but they glued a diagnostic hologram to his own as a temporary reprieve which means that every few years "Joe" needs to "consume" another hologram as sophisticated and near scentient as he is to continue on as the being he enjoys being.

Holovampire much?

[Mess hall]
TORRES: Anyone know this Barclay?
EMH: I took the liberty of reviewing his personnel file. He's had a rather colourful career, not to mention an unusual medical history. He's recovered from a variety of maladies, including transporter phobia and holo-addiction.
JANEWAY: Well, whatever his problems, he certainly came through for us.
CHAKOTAY: Starfleet should give him a promotion.
SEVEN: I've finished analysing the data Mister Barclay sent. The hyper-subspace technology is promising. I believe we can look forward to future communications with Earth.
NEELIX: Well, that calls for a toast.
JANEWAY: Care to do the honours, Tom?
PARIS: To my Dad. It's nice to know he's still there. And to the newest honorary member of the Voyager crew, Reginald Barclay. Whoever you are.
JANEWAY: To Mister Barclay.

How odd.

It's a complete wash.

Probably Annorax related.
