Perhaps the Douwd *are* Q. They just have different names for themselves.
I don't think so. Kevin Uxbridge could have
really brought back Rishon, then, instead of some sort of mental construct. He could have brought back the Hoosnok and reversed his "crime." As far as I know, only the Q among the ultrapowerful beings we've seen can actually reverse death whenever they want to.
People are making great points here. If Kevin Uxbridge is representative of his kind, then BOTH of these species are extreme pacifists. Would they ever fight, anyway?
And as QCzar points out, these beings don't have 1) glands to affect their thinking/reactions, and 2) how the heck
would their powers/natures interacts? I think they might not be able to throw supernovae at each other like the Q, but really I can't even guess.
Here's a thought that just occurred; has anyone here read
The City and The Stars (read it so, so, so many years ago). Their "battle" might be similar to what Alvin thought might take place between Vanamonde and The Mad Mind amid "the corpses of the stars," far in the future. But other than that brief, forward-looking statement, Clarke never tells us how this would look, so maybe this is no help anyway.
