On a more substantial note, I finished watching the movie for the second time last night, and loved it. Yeah, it's totally preposterous, but is it really any sillier than 007 dodging thousands of automatic-weapons rounds, or Bruce Wayne getting a readable fingerprint off a bullet fired into concrete? Surely not.

I read, however, that the blu-ray version is extended by 24 minutes, nearly all of which give the villains and their schemes more time... to which I can only say, why the hell would we need that? All the comedy that makes the movie so great resides in McKellan and phrases like "I need to get to a library, fast!" It seems incredible, but contemplating the existence of that extended cut almost makes me think Ron Howard didn't know he was crafting a light-hearted of Judeo-Christian monotheism as a whole.
