Colin Baker in Hustle

Anyone else see him in Hustle last night? Ok so it was a smallish role but always nice to see an old Doctor on tv, and I think he looks healthier than he did (well apart from his character dying!).

I momentarily considered putting Colin Baker dies in the subject header but even I'm not that insensitive

yes it was a very short apperance, shame really they could have had some fun with an ex Doctor on the show

So the Doctor meets The Man From Uncle? The first time this happened was in a movie called Hell Drivers, in which William Hartnell appeared opposite the other MFU, David McCallum. It also featured Sean Connery (pre-Bond) and Patrick McGoohan (pre Dangerman/ The Prisoner).

I think this may be the first and only time The Doctor met one of The Magnificent Seven, unless anyone can think of another movie or tv show where one of the Seven met one of The Eleven (Doctors).

I didn't even know Hustle was still on the air. After season 4 was released to DVD here in Canada it seemed to go away and now I see it's up to Season 6 (actually IMDb says 7 but I think that's an error). I don't know if it's even still being shown on AMC in the US. Is it still being shown over here? And what happened to the DVD release for Season 5?

The CBC was showing it here in Canada up to about season 3 before they cancelled it -- and if you think how they handled Doctor Who was bad, they usually cut about 10 minutes out of each episode. I saw the pilot episode on DVD and was amazed to find an entire subplot involving Mickey Bricks having a wife was deleted when it was shown on CBC. When I realized how much was cut I decided to watch it only on DVD. I think the show would look great on Blu-Ray, too.

They do the same with Spooks (MI5) and I think the cuts are actually done by the BBC, not the overseas channels.

^ Hustle is 60 minute where Doctor Who is 45 minutes

Yes I know that, thanks. So instead of giving it a 75-minute time slot or a 90 minute one -- and this is the CBC. They CAN do that -- they chose to edit things down. Fortunately, AMC does the same thing, so it's pretty clear Hustle was formatted to have "expendable material" unlike Doctor Who. So at least we didn't have mincemeat made out of the episodes like what happened with Doctor Who on the CBC. That's still no excuse for the CBC not to run the whole thing. They could have run the cut version in prime time and aired the full version late nights or something.

CBC did have the full versions of Doctor Who episodes on their website, presumably the same was true of Hustle.

Still not a solution, but it's something, anyway.
