Chris Pine Nominated for MTV Movie Award

MvRojo

Vice Admiral

After being initially in competition with nine nominations in six categories in the first round of voting, Star Trek ended up picking up two nominations, both for Chris Pine.

BEST BREAKOUT STAR
Anna Kendrick – Up in the Air
Chris Pine – Star Trek
Gabourey Sidibe – Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire
Logan Lerman – Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief
Quinton Aaron – The Blind Side
Zach Galifianakis – The Hangover

BIGGEST BADASS STAR (New Category)
Rain
Angelina Jolie
Channing Tatum
Sam Worthington
Chris Pine
My guess is that it the first one will end up being down to Pine and Galifianakis, and the second one Pine and Sam Worthington.

Star Trek isn't up for best picture? F.U. MTV fans!

Ah what ever, we're talking about the same people who awarded Hayden Christensen the "best villain"...

If everybody had voted when I told them to, the situation would have been different-but no, nobody did, so what happened is what happened.:vulcan:

Exactly. Everyone had the same opportunity to vote. It's not some obscure voting group like the AMPAS or FPA that you can somewhat more legitimately complain about.

I voted a couple times, but didn't really have motivation to vote a thousand times (like most Trek fans).

I don't like signing up all over town for every darn thing at every darn website. If I already belong somewhere, fine. If they make me sign up, forget it. I get enough spam already. Do I sound like a curmudgeoness.

That'd be a valid point if MTV required you to register anything, which they don't.

Yes, they do; I already tried to vote, and they retired me to sign up.

I stand corrected. I was already logged in. I haven't received a single email from them since I signed up months ago, so I forgot.

Oh, ok. You are relentless, Mv.

edit: they say on it they'll never use the address for spam, so I gave them a real address. I think they just want the demographic data.

Yes, you do, and in this case, yes you are!;)

I signed up for MTV.com so that I could vote in the awards, and I voted for Chris Pine, Zach Quinto, Zoe Saldana, and everybody else connected with Star Trek; I even voted it for best picture. If I could do that, you could have done that too. But nobody wanted to do that, so here we are with Twilight taking all of the noms. In this case, we have nobody to blame but ourselves as Trekfans.

^ Hey, didn't you read my posts? I did it. And I did it in the past when they were up for it, so it wasn't my fault. I was voting for them before you were born. Darn kids. And don't walk through my flower bed on your way out.

Chris Pine lost Breakthrough Performance to Anna Kendrick for "Up in the Air," which is probably just spillover from her being in the "Twilight" series.

NOTE: Please don't bitch about "Twilight" and/or its fans. It gets old. Sure it looks like a terrible, terrible series (which I refuse to watch), but like it or not, their fans vote like mad for these things.

Chris also lost Biggest Badass Star to Rain from "Ninja Assassin." This isn't that surprising since he didn't really come off as a badass in Trek.
