OK I watched this last night and I have to agree with the OP that it is well worth a watch. For just shy of $5 million they have made a film that is on 10 times the scale on Moon for about the same price. Moon was already a grand budgetary achievement, so this is really unbelievable. Although it seemed to have this weird problem where the big scale effects were just beautifully done, staggering attention to detail and superb design and concepts, yet they fluffed some of the really basic bluescreen shots, I don't know what that's all about.
I'd liken the atmosphere and design to something like Alien, quite tense, very downbeat indeed, dark and lonely. It certainly had that grand Ridley Scott feeling to it. I have mixed feelings about it plot wise, I thought it suffered from plausibility problems at times, was slightly derivative of films I cannot mention without giving away spoilers, and probably could have done with being 20 minutes shorter. It dragged a little through the middle but overall was quite interesting.
The acting seemed to be pretty good, but when you're listening in German and flitting between subtitles (which were clearly written by someone who speaks German as a first language and English as a second on my copy) it can be quite hard to tell.
For fans of Silent Running, Alien, Outland, I say give it a shot. You may find yourself with mixed feelings about the movie overall like I did, but you'll certainly find many things to enjoy about this great effort.
Oh, and try and see it in HD if you can, I suspect the scale of some of the effects shots will be wasted on DVD. Anyway, thanks to Truth Seeker for a much appreciated recommendation, this is precisely the sort of Sci-Fi movie I am always on the look out for.
