Can anyone else not stand Leonard Hofstadter?

The guy is so whiney, has a sky high opinion of himself and will shit on his friends if it means getting his own way. The guys manorisms just wind me up too. Like when he shouts 'This is not Star Trek!' at Sheldon or says 'they don't just let anyone have a website' in an extremely condescending way to Penny.

Total douche.

Anyone agree?

The fact is he's the most normal on the show. He throws his friends under the bus the least (except maybe for Raj who is often portrayed as a doormat).

He betrayed Raj and Howard so he could get laid. Normality doesn't make you less of a douche.

I don't watch the show, but from these descriptions, he seems like the 'Normal guy who is a jerk and makes sarcastic remarks to everyone when they say something unusual or weird' character. If that is true, yeah I hate that kind of character.

I’ve never really had an issue with Leonard. I used to like Raj before he could talk to women but now he’s become a desperate loser, same with Stuart.

Howard was kind of a pervert but he’s settled down now that he’s married. Sheldon is Sheldon.

It’s Bernadette that I hate the most! She used to be nice when she was first introduced but she’s slowly morphed into a :censored:

The worst part about Leonard is his relationship with Penny. It just doesn’t seem plausible, and never has. I can see her falling for someone like Raj, but never Leonard.

I guess he fills the same role as Jerry Seinfeld did in his show, the most normal and relatable character in the group, the straw that stirs the drink. And to be honest, George and Kramer were always funnier than Jerry.

Over time, they've all become like this. It used to be more cute banter, but as the show has gone on, it's turned more and more mean. If you just read the lines without context, they all hate each other at this point, they don't act like friends.

That seems to be a symptom of sitcoms after awhile. Maybe insult humor is easier for writers to produce instead of coming up with something new after the show has been on for many years.

I don't think it's that Penny and Leonard have things in common, as much as she liked the way Leonard treated her (for the most part). She dated a lot of users and abusers and idiots. She was ready for a change in her life. Leonard isn't perfect, he was attracted to her mostly because she was pretty. The writers haven't written Leonard very well over time. He's gotten more whiny and annoying, but he has stood up to his irritating roommate on occasion.

What I meant was that Leonard and Penny have nothing in common. Zero. And if “opposites attract” was what the writers were going for, she should be with Sheldon now instead of Leonard.

Opposites do attract but that doesn’t override the basic tenets of attractiveness differential. Not in real life anyway.

Really? Jim Parsons looks like he could do quite well with the ladies (were he to swing that way).
