Bruce Timm drawing Marvel characters

I remember seeing some time back on another board drawings of Marvel characters by by DCAU legend Bruce Timm.

A quick search on various search engines' image search functions brought me the following images.

Of course, every time I see these images, I dream the impossible dream of a consistant Marvel animated-verse run by Timm.

I think Timm's style would work well for Marvel as well as it does DC. In fact, some of these drawings are down-right Kirby-esque.

Here are few of what I found...

Yeah just go on comicartfans or comicartcommunity and you can find a whole bunch of his stuff.

I love his pinup girl art too.

I'm at this weird place in my knowledge of comics where they look different enough that I recognize them as different, but not so different that I'm compelled to write a nerd-rant about them being different.

I think Timm based the DCAU designs off of Kirby's work in the first place. That's why most Marvel characters are such a good fit.

Meh. I don't like the faces. The women look retro (like 50s advertising with a bit of Esurance thrown in); the men all look like someone wedged the same brick onto their shoulders (except Spidey).

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

Bruce Timm is fantastic. He should be EIC at Marvel, or in charge of Marvel animation; that would rock. :bolian:

Anyone who knows the DCAU should know what a huge influence Kirby was on Timm and co. and designed a character in the Superman series based directly on Kirby himself. Plus of course they used Kirby's Forth World characters quite a bit.

There are also references and nods to Marvel all over the place, he even recreated the original Defenders line-up with DC character for an episode and there's this one bit in the last JLU episode that's utterly unmistakable.

^^ Which bit are you referring to?

The one I linked to. ;)

I dunno... I'm so used to associating that character design style with DC characters that I'm having a hard time looking at it (at least the picture of all the heroines) and seeing Marvel. There's a cognitive dissonance there.
