Breaking Sad News...Dwayne McDuffie is dead.

This is terrible. I couldn't believe it when I saw your headline. Not only was McDuffie an invaluable member of the WB Animation team, responsible for a lot of great writing there and in comics, he was also a friend of a friend of mine. I've met him myself, briefly, at Comic-Con. And he can't have been much older than me, though his age doesn't seem to be a matter of public record. So this one hits pretty close to home. My condolences to his friends and family.

I've long been a fan and admirer of his work...and just as we were discussing his movie. In what should have been a happy day for him and his family with the release of the film, this happens. My condolences to his family as well. His last facebook status was from Sunday I believe as the article reports.

I just logged onto Newsarama, too, and was shocked to see this very unexpected and terrible news. My thanks to him for all the joy he gave us with the great work he did and my condolences to his loved ones. :(

Very, very sad. :( McDuffie's work was always something I looked forward to. I'm really going to miss his voice out there.

Wow, this is awful. He really hooked me starting with Damage Control. I haven't really followed his career, but I've seen how often his name appeared in the animated shows.

First Boyd Kirkland and now this...R.I.P.

Oh man. :( I hadn't even heard about Boyd Kirkland. He directed my two favourite "Batman: The Animated Series" episodes. Sadly, I don't think these writers will ever get as much recognition as they deserve since they only wrote animated TV episodes rather than full length theatrical features.

Nonetheless, I value their best work as much as that of the screenwriters I respect the most. McDuffie was always one of those guys where whenever I saw his name appear at the start of a "Justice League" episode, I knew some quality television was coming up. Such a talent. God bless him.

Wow, I'm terribly sorry for your loss, Christopher.

Anyone know how old he was? He doesn't seem that old.

Watching DC stuff you definitely saw this guy around, he was always trying to move the African American content ahead and he was a native Detroiter, sad to see him pass.

Very sad news indeed. I hadn't heard about Boyd Kirkland either, so a one-two punch all at the same time.
May both men rest in peace, and sincere condolences to their family and friends.

Surgical complications... that really stinks. A terrible shame.

I appreciate your Static avatar, cylkoth. A nice tribute.

Man, I just got off work, the first thing I did was go pick up All-Star Superman. I didn't know the man, except thru the DCU, but I am really hit by this. I have tears in my eyes. Rest well Mr. McDuffie. You will most definently be missed.
