Making his revelations about their turbulent 14–year marriage which ended in 2006, the 40-year-old writes: "[The marriage] was doomed from the very beginning. I think we got married for all the wrong reasons.
"Now, I realize Whitney had a different agenda than I did when we got married. I believe her agenda was to clean up her image, while mine was to be loved and have children."
At the time they were first married, the media was accusing Houston of having a bi-sexual relationship with her assistant, Robin Crawford. ‘
"Since she was the American Sweetheart and all, that didn’t go too well with her image," said Brown.
"In Whitney’s situation, the only solution was to get married and have kids. That would kill all speculation, whether it was true or not."
The excerpt is poor timing for the diva, who is trying to resurrect her once drug-ravaged image with a career comeback.

The thing about it is, the black community where Whitney has her fan base is mainly fundamentalist Christian, and had she come out as a bisexual, all of her record sales would have ended right there, as well as those of the white community (this was back in the '80's and '90's). So sadly, she had to marry Brown instead of following her heart, thanks to 'the average American'.

I was wondering the same thing, but I believe that he managed to really woo her in the courtship stage, and she fell for him like a ton of bricks. To be frank, what Whitney said about herself way back when was true: 'I'm still like a baby in a lot of senses'. That comment applies to matters of love, and standing up for herself as an adult to say that she wants to love a woman.

This is why I prefer Madonna, Annie Lennox and Pat Benatar over Whitney, musically, socially and personally.
