In this decade, the superhero films truly exploded and may be considered the golden age of the superhero films. Just curious to know what everyone's favorites are. Here's mine:
1. Spider-Man 2 (some may hate it, but IMO while not achieving the cinematic/storytelling levels of the Dark Knight, this film really does feel like a classic Spidey comc brought to life)
2. The Incredibles (the best superhero film made not based on a comic book, how about getting Brad Bird to direct a live-action superhero film?)
3. The Dark Knight (shows how a superhero film can be elevated to cinematic greatness)
4. X2: X-Men United (Bryan Singer's best superhero film, captures the essence of the best X-Men comics)
5. Batman Begins (brought back Batman in a great way, making us forget the last two awful Schumacher films)
6. Spider-Man (really great film that actually improves Spidey's origin)
7. Fantastic Four (the best guilty pleasure I've seen in years, was expecting the worst when I first saw it, that probably helped!
8. Watchmen (really cool epic superhero film, haven't seen the director's cut yet which I hear is better)
9. The Incredible Hulk (Hulk Smash!
This is what the first, pretentious film should've been like)
10. Superman Returns (doesn't hold up well, but has some really great moments, done in by a pedestrian redundant plot)
Plus these are Honorable Mentions:
Iron Man (would've rated higher if not for the second half that runs out of steam)
X-Men
Daredevil (the director's cut)
Spider-Man 3
Unbreakable
Hellboy
Hellboy 2: The Golden Army
