The reunion of Scott Weiland with Dean DeLeo, Robert DeLeo, and Eric Kretz got me really excited when it was first announced. But even more exciting is that I'm going to see them tomorrow. Since I know I'm not the only STP fan here, I thought I'd ask a simple question.

Which is your favorite album? For me, it's pretty hard to decide because I like them in different ways (even the often panned Shangri-La Dee Da has some great songs on it). So how about you?

Alidar Jarok, you are a lucky bastard. I thought about coming over the pond for this gig, but decided to come for a regular stop on the tour instead, so I am seeing them in Detroit in a couple of weeks.

Let us know if they still kick arse.

Anyway, the best STP album is clearly and without a doubt Tiny Music: Songs From the Vatican Giftshop. Quite a weird album, but every track on it is an absolute gem IMO.

I agree it is hard to choose though as they are all great. I think this is their most diverse album though, followed by Shangri La Dee da.

ETA: Not to cause panic or alarm, but isn't the STP gig tonight? Or are you going to Camden?

It's the at the Tweeter Center (or whatever they call it now in Camden) tomorrow (although I did almost jump out of my skin when you said tonight ;) ). Tiny Music is a great album (I think I'm going back and forth between Purple and Tiny Music right now for my favorite).

Core is my favorite, great album from start to finish. Purple is a close second. Two of the best straight-up rock albums ever made. Personally I have no use for anything they did after that. Honestly I would have preferred another Army of Anyone CD and/or tour to another round of "let's see how long it takes before Weiland falls off the wagon and the tour gets cancelled".

I can't choose between Core and Purple, depends entirely on my mood at the time. They're both just that damn good. 2 of the best rock albums of the last 20 years easy.

Congrats on going to the concert tonight, and have fun in the very worst city in all of New Jersey. It's a fun place for a concert though, used to see Dave Mathews there all the time.

Yeah, well just as long as he last another 2 weeks

I like Core a lot, but my vote goes to Tiny Music....

I think it's brilliant.

:techman:

BTW, just got back from the concert. Granted, I had to sit through Hooters, Everclear, and Staind in the pouring rain, so anything'll sound better after that, but I think it kicked ass (might go as far as to say that it was my favorite concert ever). The DeLeos were as cool as ever and Scott is still Scott (he didn't take his shirt off, but, otherwise, he was his usual weird self). I think there was a few small instances where they weren't quite in sync with each other (especially in Down, which was just messed up), but, for the most part, they were great with every song (they also had a very diverse set list that had both famous songs like Plush and less famous songs like Lounge Fly).

Cool, glad you enjoyed it. I've seen them before and it is my favourite concert by a stretch.

I'm looking forward to this a lot now. Did they play All In The Suit That You Wear?

Yeah, they played it somewhere in the middle (since Weiland was wearing a suit, it felt oddly appropriate).

I'll see if I can remember the set list, but I'm going to fail miserably (I know it opened with Big Empty):

Big Empty
Big Bang Baby
Lady Picture Show
Vasoline
Lounge Fly
Sour Girl
All in the Suit that You Wear
Down
Sex Type Thing
Wicked Garden
Creep
Interstate Love Song
Plush
Trippin' On a Hole in a Paper Heart

They're encore was Dead and Bloated. I can't remember if I forgot anything, but that was basically it. The only song I think I was disapointed that they didn't play was Atlanta. On their website, they let you vote for the songs that'll play at a show, so it's a good shot each show will be different.

I've got to say that the very first STP album, Core, is my personal favorite. But I'd also have to say that No. 4 is a not-so-distant second, and in my humble opinion it's rather underrated! I always thought that Church On Tuesday, Glide, MC5 and the Doors-y Atlanta were great songs.

^ Bloody right, those are all great songs.

Alidar, I'm very much hoping that they are just playing All in the Suit at every gig, since I doubt it would make the the fan picked set lists. It's one of my favourite STP tracks.

That set list pretty much reads like the Thank You best of album though
