Best Control setup for star trek online?

Just curious what setup most of you sto'ers prefer and why. Xbox pad seems like it would be easy to fly escorts with, but programming the buttons seems like too much of a headache for me. I'm just using the mouse and keyboard now, thought about buying a simple flight stick to use during ship combat only...personall pros or cons?

For space I use a combination of joypad, mouse and keyboard. Joypad for general flight and the most used keybinds, keyboard for buffs that won't fit on the joypad and the mouse for looking/targeting.

For ground though I only use the keyboard and mouse.

For Ground I use a more standard FPS setup, using shooter mode, WASD and the numeric keys at the top of the keyboard.

For space I control using WASD and use the numeric keypad to control the abilities/weapons.

I'd use the number pad for often, but for some reason the '0' key doesn't seem to work, so I'd have to use the '0' along the top. Any ideas why this is?

I currently use the regular keyboard and mouse. However, I recently purchased a Fang gaming pad. Haven't got it fully configured yet.

It's because the keybinds for both 0 and 9 aren't setup as default for the keypad. You need to go into the options and assign it in each control type (Space,RPG,Shooter) for each toon (the ctrl and alt versions need setting up too).

I still wish there's a way to fly my ship with the mouse and don't have to keep holding down both mouse buttons.

I'd like to use a PS3 controller, but then there's a button issue because it needs to be held with two hands.

I'm still trying to solve this mystery myself.

As I noted in the other thread, I typically use a rather unorthodox key bind set up when playing MMOs where I do all basic movement with the mouse and only use keys for strafing--and shift my "home" more towards the middle of the keyboard to allow access to a lot more keys.

It actually works well for away teams. But I prefer to use the FPS mode anyway. It's probably a little less effective, but it's way more immerse.

But my keybind setup just doesn't work for space travel. I've tried altering it several different ways. But there's just too much that needs to be controlled movement wise. The biggest issue I've had was finding away to comfortably mitigate speed. I've been using the scroll wheel on my mouse, but that's just too inaccurate--even with the scroll speed set as low as possible.

I'm going to try the keypad approach next, but I'm not holding a lot of hope.
