News Apparently, the dad from "the Goldbergs" doesn't just LOOK like Weinstein

Jeff Garlin leaving ‘The Goldbergs’ after investigation into ‘abusive’ misconduct

According to sources close to the show, it was a mutual decision for Garlin not to return to the series, Deadline reported. Meanwhile, the comedian’s termination is effective immediately — and he will not complete his work on the remainder of the ninth season of “The Goldbergs.”

“Curb Your Enthusiasm” star Garlin, who played curmudgeonly patriarch Murray Christian Goldberg, admitted to Vanity Fair that he had been the subject of a human resources department probe over the last three years due to his on-set conduct.

“He is extremely verbally and emotionally abusive,” an anonymous “Goldbergs” employee told Deadline.
Too bad. He was the funniest part of the show, especially in the later years. Between this, the death of George Segal and the kids being way too old at this point, probably time to pull the plug.

His character in Curb Your Enthusiasm’s resemblance to Weinstein was the plot of an episode of the show recently. I wonder if this will affect his role on Curb?

I was thinking of going to see him onstage in Belfast next year, but this has put me off. Yeah, I know, separate the art from the artist, but I’m not sure I want to put money in his pocket if this is true (and HR seem to think it is).

Edit: there’s a breaking story about Chris Noth tonight https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/t...txShQUdvGA6wDuXchWUvJQadzuM3EC5yqJ49wN1CXPIsw

I’m both sad and disappointed. I never watched “The Goldbergs”, but I’m a big fan of “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” Garlin has always been such a big part of that show since the beginning, this news will almost certainly ruin that as well.

If what I read was true I doubt this will impact his role on Curb. It seems his offense was using salty language and basically behaving like you expect a comedian would. Somehow I don't see Larry David being bothered by any of this.

I don't remember where I read it but some gossip site (without naming names) heavily implied he was harassing the actress who played Lainie, and that's why she was phased out of the show (and offered her own spinoff). Just rumors but if that's true and if that comes out, even David might have to cut him loose.
