they mention they're supposedly a group fighting for the cause of justice. is it ever mentioned in the comics who exactly they were and why they hated wolfram and hart?

They're fighting for justice and going after Wolfram and Hart. You know, the demon law firm. Not hard to put two and two together.
Do cyborg ninjas really need explanation?

i was just wondering if it was ever mentioned what the name of their group was. seems pretty cool to me. we had science inspired demon hunters called 'the initiative' on buffy.
