Actress Playing Dabo Girl Targeted by Con Man/Murderer

I was watching a TV special tonight called Death in the Hollywood Hills, originally aired in 2006, that talked about a con man that eventually murdered one of his victims. He liked to say that he worked for different studios (once he said he was a music exec) to lure young women to meet at different rendezvous points. Once they showed up he tried to rape them and even ended up murdering his last victim.

According to this news special one of the women he targetted was Cathy Debuono, who played the Dabo girl M'Pella on DS9 (the special mentioned her role on the show). MSNBC's web-site says the following about her:

In 1998, a man who identified himself as "Brian" and said he worked at Disney approached Cathy. "He told me he really liked my legs and that he was working closely with the James Bond movies and that they were looking for new people," she said. Cathy already had a regular small part on 'Deep Space Nine,' but getting cast as a Bond girl was something else. She brought a male friend with her to the supposed audition location. She waited in the car, as she was asked. "Brian" never showed.

Good thing her male friend was in the car with her- it saved her from who knows what...

FYI, Cathy Debuono also played some other roles on DS9: She was originally hired as Dax's (Terry Farrell) photo-double. In addition to doubling Dax and playing the role of M'Pella, Cathy played The Breen, a Vulcan Baseball Player, and a Klingon Warrior for the last 3 seasons of the series.

Good thing she brought that male friend with her. Who knows what this asshole would've done to her had she come alone.

If anyone wants to have a meeting in a parking lot, sorry I do not care who you are it is not going to happen. Little shocked that she even went to the meeting, even with a male friend. If I was her, with already having a minor role on DS9 she would have an agent. A young woman without an agent being taken with the meeting I could understand, little shocked with a woman already within the system agreeing to the meeting even with a male bodyguard.
