6th Doctor Regeneration action figure!

Whilst surfing the web when I should have been going to sleep, I came across this cool figure at Pixel Barrel, available only for sale in Canada: the 6th Doctor Regeneration figure -- he's still wearing 5's messed up outfit!

I've still never even seen an episode of the 6th Doctor, but I just had to get this, lest I end up kicking myself some years down the road! :D

That would have been my prefered option.

Sorry Peri but you can't always save everyone...

It's not only availible in Canada, it's just that stockist is only allowed to sell it in Canada.

I gave that figure a miss actually. The Fifth Doctor figure was taller than it should have been, the Sixth Doctor figure shorter and that was just a head swap, so when you actually stand the Regen Sixth next to the regular Sixth... oopsie. ;)

I skip the regen figures, previous body/new head does nothing for me.

I have every iteration of the 6th Doctor figure. The normal one, the regen, and the alternate-media blue outfit. Totally worth it. ;)

I thought this was going to be about the 6th *regeneration* (into the 7th). :p

Speaking of which: We've seen the Doctor survive much worse injuries and nothing happened, so why does a simple blow to the head (when the TARDIS is tossed around and he falls against the console) cause him to regenerate?

Some of the novels go into detail about that. There's a few explanations:

1) That he began regenerating even before the crash from an undisclosed adventure....

2) That the Seventh persona practically forced him to regenerate in order to become Time's Champion (A theme that runs through the Seventh Doctor novels), and not the Valeyard.

The twist in the tail on this being that the Valeyard's created by the Doctor's later resentment at having an incarnation cut short by his next self.

I see. This wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff can get confusing.

So the Valeyard is sort of a result of repressed anger seething under the surface for so long? That might work.

Can't say I buy the explanation for the 6th's sudden regeneration, though. Of course, what could they do, given that Colin Baker refused to film the scene... At least they actually bothered to FILM one, unlike the never-seen and probably never-will-be-seen 8th to 9th regeneration. :brickwall:

The 6th Doctor's era had some good moments, but otherwise it was very much the "Enterprise" of the Doctor Who franchise, with Six's first story, Twin Dilemma, recently being voted the worst Doctor Who story every by the readers of Doctor Who Magazine.

I'm not dissuading anyone from watching Colin Baker's stories, and as a Doctor I thought he was great (costume notwithstanding), but for a better first impression you might be better off seeking some of the Big Finish Audio Dramas first, IMO. Otherwise, Vengeance on Varos is probably IMO the best of the Sixth Doctor stories, followed by The Two Doctors.

I'd actually consider it more the Voyager of Doctor Who, with McCoy being Enterprise-a bad start that eventually got better, but it was too late.

To stretch a simile.

Personally, my favourite three Doctors are probably Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth, so...well that means nothing. This doesn't necessarily mean they coincide with the best time for the show I suppose.

I was thinking the other day though that I'd love to have a Sixth Doctor coat. Anyone know where I might be able to get one?

I think you could make your own out of ten or so coats of other colours...alternatively go to the West end and see if the producers of Joseph have any spares!

Seriously though, you wouldn't wear it...I mean not outside right? I once saw a guy here in Nottingham who had the whole Tennant get up, and frankly he looked a bit silly (nothing wrong with the look, he'd just gone too far in making it completely identical to 10's outfit.)

I'd wear it too. I already wear my Fourth Doctor scarf all the time (well, except in the summer). Mind you, the scarf gets compliments, even from people who don't know its origin. The coat would just get some really weird looks.
