40 yrs ago, a true watershed event for men

"Brian's Song" allowed men to cry in public.

Like the author here says, "Superman had Kryptonite. The rest of us have 'Brian's Song'." I still enjoy it maybe now more than I did way back then. It was a predictable tear-jerker alright, but who cares?

Never heard of it before, but maybe I'll watch it some time. I haven't cried because of a movie in a long time though, so I doubt this one can do it.

Somehow never managed to see "Brian's Song." Guess I should check it out. I know it is a classic.

I suspect that the original from 1971 will seem hokey by today's standards. There was a remake not long ago, starring Sean Maher ("Firefly") that didn't seem to have the same effect.
