EDIT - Sorry for the typo, I meant "butter"

Not a joke:

I always like to try weird deep fried stuff at the fair as a lark. In the past I've done deep fried macaroni and cheese (on a stick no less), deep fried peanut butter and jelly sandwich, deep fried s'mores, etc.

Somehow this seem a little less appealing. I mean where are they going to go from here? How will they top this one next year?

Re: 2009 State Fair of Texas to Debut Deep Fried Buter

In Indiana we have deep-fried Coke/Pepsi. I've never had it and I don't quite understand what it is, I only know that it exists. If it's edible, somebody in Indiana has fried it.

My understanding is that it is deep fried batter with Coke syrup mixed in. The kind of seems like cheating to me.

Re: 2009 State Fair of Texas to Debut Deep Fried Buter

I've always suspected that these "deep fried" horrors at the Fair have been secretly introduced by a cardiologist trying to drum up business. :shifty:

Deep fried consumerism.

Seriously, next year it's going to be half a bag of sugar, and someone will say "It's what I've always wanted."

I think it's time for some deep fried cotton candy. :bolian:

The State Fair: The one time a year Darwin shotgun blasts the gene pool, and the local Cardiologist gets to add a new level to his house.

I've been introduced, at the TN state fair when I was a regular Photo Contest contestant, to deep fried pickles (not to bad, don't wash down with a can of Diet Dr. Pepper); deep-fried snickers (WTH? No); and deep-fried "meat", no type given just deep-fried "meat", leading me to note the interstates going into Knoxville were suspiciously clean of roadkill that morning and getting some dirty looks from the vendor and a woman next to me puking up the one she was eating.

Re: 2009 State Fair of Texas to Debut Deep Fried Buter

Here in Dubuque, Iowa, we have a restaurant called Bandana's BBQ (it's part of a small chain, though this particular location is independently owned and operated). One of the sides on the menu is deep-fried corn on the cob.

I absolutely refuse to try such an abomination.

(Also, I fixed your thread title, because I'm nice like that.)

I have a winning idea for 2010, so who wants to go in with me?

Deep fryer residue cola!
