I know nothing of the Horses, but Chocolate Candy is from the Bay Area. Looking forward to one of the most exciting races of any kind in the year.

Can't believe it's already here though. Man this year is speeding by.

For DUNKIRK fans. :)
He certainly is a good looking colt!

Garrett Gomez & Dunkirk before the Florida Derby.

(...interesting to note that top jockey, Garrett Gomez,
selected Pioneerof The Nile as his Kentucky Derby mount.)

I always bet on the one with the most suggestive name - I think Chocolate Candy would be the one this year. I am skipping Derby this year though as it is going to be a rainy one.

Too bad they didn't name it Chocolate Salty Balls in that case.

I'm one of the casual I watch horseracing 3 times a year types. The Triple Crown races are always exciting.

I Want Revenge has been scratched due to an ankle problem. They still intend to run him at Preakness if the ankle recovers in time.

ETA: At this point, since I haven't followed this year's crop of colts, I'm going to go with riders and trainers in chosing my favorites. I like Hold Me Back with Kent Desourmeaux aboard, Dunkirk with Edgar Prado and Pioneerof the Nile trained by Bob Baffert.

I don't know this Todd Pletcher guy, but he's got 3 entries. Good luck to him!

One of the biggest upsets in Derby History! The jockey won the Oakes yesterday, too.

Great race! Mine that Bird really came from nowhere. That was an amazing move. Dangerous, though. Jockey did a similar thing when he rode Street Sense.

Outstanding Derby. What a move by Bird too. Also, the overhead shot might be the best bit of analysis for anything ever. It's pretty much all self explanatory from up there.

Churchill Downs has launched the official Web site for the 2009 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands, www.kentuckyderby.com, which will offer unparalleled coverage of the horse racing season leading up to the 135th running of the Kentucky Derby on May 2, 2009. Employing advanced Web technology, the site serves as an all-inclusive online resource for the entire Kentucky Derby experience, from in-depth contender information to full-scale treatment of the lavish entertainment and party atmosphere that surrounds the historic event.

Among the new components of the official Kentucky Derby 135 Web site is an expanded lifestyle and entertainment section, which includes Red Carpet and Derby celebrity photo galleries, information on the official Kentucky Derby Party program, and insider's peeks at Millionaires Row and the boisterous infield. Kentuckyderby.com will also serve as the online home for an exciting array of Kentucky Derby 135 events and programs, which will be unveiled in the weeks ahead.

By 20+ lengths, the largest margin in that race in at least 100 years. On Rachel Alexandra, who he has now committed to riding the the Preakness, making another historical footnote-the first time a jockey has jumped from the Derby winner to ride another horse in the Preakness. Of course, Rachel Alexandra is considered to be perhaps the best filly to race in the modern era and will probably go off as the morning-line favorite, and he is her regular jockey, so it was probably a no-brainer...

It's his MO. Calvin Bo-rail...

I heard some people were trying to keep Rachel Alexandra out of Preakness. Sexism! :p

I'll definitely root for her tomorrow. I just hope she won't be another Eight Belles. :(
