108 Minutes

Mojochi

Vice Admiral
Admiral
Kelvin Inman died the day of the crash. That means Desmond spent the entire 1st season having to be awake or awakened every hour & 48 minutes. I find it intriguing that his first flashback, at the very beginning of season 2 was of the day that Locke blew open the hatch, & he was randomly going about his morning routine

Now during the snowman question scene, Des does seem a bit wonky, but after around 40 days of having your sleep disrupted every 1:48, wouldn't a person be downright psychotic?

No, it'd be similar to having to go to the bathroom often.

Back in the third season or so we were discussing this. I remember suggestions that people planning on boating around the world can train their brain to function with short sleep intervals. But he wasn't exactly a model of sanity when he was found in the hatch, to be fair.

Quite. I wake up 3-4 times a night to go to the bathroom, and I'm not insane. It's not even something he has to fully wake up for.

Same here and I'm... well... I'm quite insane actually, but each to their own.
