‘Frozen 2′ Is Official

Frozen 2 is in the works, the Walt Disney Company revealed today.

Frozen directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck are developing the project, but have not been confirmed to be directing. No release date has been set, but clearly Disney is not wasting any time on pushing out a sequel to their highest-grossing animated feature of all-time. As yet, the only actor confirmed to be reprising their role is Josh Gad, the voice of the snowman Olaf, who was present at the stockholder meeting.

‘Frozen 2′ Is Official

Of course, the people commenting at Cartoon Brew (where I got this story from) are losing their minds about it, because they all hated Frozen and hate the Academy for not having their favorite Japanese and Irish animated movies win Best Picture.

Apologies if the news has already been posted...

I get the appeal for kids, but "Frozen" had such a weak story that I can't get excited for a sequel.

Shouldn't the sequel be called Thawed?

Refrozen? Defrosted? Frozen 2: Sub Zero Boogaloo? ;)

I tend to agree the plot of the first one wasn't up to much, but I don't think that was the point, or the source of the appeal (I mean it's a HCA fairy tale, no?) It was a simple story well told with entertaining characters. Having some very appealing art design and snappy animations didn't hurt either.

I'd be lying if I said I was looking forward to a sequel, but I thought it was pretty inevitable given the success of the first film. Indeed I'm surprised it took them this long. We'll just have to wait and see if it's worthwhile

That's great. This means more Kristen Bell goodness! :)
And yes, you can't produce the most successful animated movie of all time and not have someone say "we want a sequel".

Shame they can't keep the Titel Frozen 2: Rogue One!

Edit: And when Fozen 2 is out we can talk about the inevitable team up movie: Frozen vs. Entangled: Dawn of Magic

Since it and Tangled are in the same universe, they could do a cross-over short story similar to Frozen Fever after the sequel.

My daughter will love it... and her opinion of a cartoon princess movie is more important than mine.

The sequel being made is of course good news!

Those people commenting at Cartoon Brew hate everything that's popular. It's best to just ignore them!

I really love 'Frozen.' I've been immersing myself in the world of the movie (well as best you can with a children's movie). I've been buying a lot of tie in books and even read one of the Chapter books that's out for it. Granted it was for a class, but it was still a fun read.

Indeed.

My daughters enjoy frozen. I enjoy parts of it, but cannot really put myself behind a sequel. Mostly because I'm always cautious of Disney sequels, but maybe this next one will make more sense.

Also, my eldest already decided the story: "Anna should have summer powers to make it warm and that will be Frozen 2."

Can't say I blame you-many other people who love animation thought that the story was shit too, and that Frozen shouldn't have won Best Picture.
