Trek Gaming

In a recent interview with Trekmovie.com, CBS Products vice president Van Citters said that new Star Trek games are in the works. He doesn't specify any platforms or genres, and there's no indication that a game is currently in development. However, he acknowledged the need for more traditional games outside the current MMOPRG, Star Trek Online, and the franchise's need to expand the gaming space in the long-term.
"There are definitely things in the works," he said. "There is a great deal of interest in developing new games for Star Trek and we will definitely have more to say about it in the future. I am very excited about what the future is going to hold for Star Trek gaming as a whole."

God it would be great if we were about to enter another gold Trek gaming era like we did when the 25th anniversary was launched way back in 1991.

It would have lasted longer if "Secret of Vulcan Fury" had ever been released...

Thanks for the 20MB reference. The first PC compatible machine I got had a whopping 20MB hard drive and I thought I would never fill it up since my machine at work had only a 10MB hard drive.

Ha!

I installed 25th. Anniversary and had no free space.

I hope they get the hint and not feed us yet another starship combat game.

Personally, I'm hoping for another shooter along the lines of Elite Force (not EF2). Only this time, give us free run of the ship. It'd be like that old virtual starship software and EF1, combined. Just the sense of scale that would lend to a game...and something with the Modern Warfare 2 engine? I'd piss myself in excitement.

Ah, the nostalga. :)

I wish we were back in Activisions day where the trailers made you drool (Elite Force, Armada). New games being launched every 8 months or so. Twas awesome.

Know what upset me?

We got plenty of TOS and TNG games. We got a few DS9 games. We got a KILLER couple of Voyager games with Elite Force. But we NEVER got a good Enterprise game.

My vote is a combination of Elite Force and Bridge Commander. You play as a Lt. Commander that goes on a lot of away missions (also give the guy free reign of the ship in between missions, and have mini-missions onboard the ship.)

Than have a mission where you are boarded and have to repel boarding parties. You lose contact with the bridge, only to find it destroyed, with all senior officers dead. You make your way to a secondary "battle bridge" style, than take command of the ship Bridge Commander style, for sections of the game, but with the option to give command to someone else as you lead a team to repel boarders, board an enemy ship, go on away missions, etc.

Either that or a new game made in the style of Klingon Academy. That game always was my fave.

While I would totally kill for for a new ST shooter-style game, maybe even Elite Force 3, what I really like to see is a Knights of the Old Republic type RPG. It would have a problem to solve that would span all the shows, starting in the Enterprise era, then leading into TOS, then into all the shows in the TNG era.

Something like that.

Would love to see a TOS style RPG game in the vein of 25th anniversy, but with 2010 graphics! Something like Mass Effect 2!

At least were we there to enjoy those heady times of Trek gaming at its best, interplay and activision......I of course don't included Simon and schuster's ST Star ship creator,...both of them...in real time.

I just wish there were some way to re-release the original Elite Force (1.2) with updated graphics. That would be so freaking cool.

You can keep your shooters. Give me a sequal to BOTF and release Borg Assimulator. :techman:

I'd be happy if CBS and Activision got their quarrel settled and I could buy copies of Elite Force 2 and Starfleet Command III that don't cost $100.

Elite Force and Armada were my favorites, but I've also replayed Away Team several times. I like its characters...I wonder if anyone has ever done a fanfic using them.
