I guess it would have been based on their story pitch for the documentary. Would have been cool though. https://twitter.com/TrekMovie/status/894288276982448128
Sorry, what story pitch is that? Too bad they haven't heard that many entertainment properties can be both.
The documentary has the writers pitching/story breaking/writing the first episode of a hypothetical eighth season of DS9.
Ah, thank you. I haven't been keeping up with news about the documentary. https://www.trekbbs.com/threads/behr-deep-space-nine-–-what-we-left-behind.289144/
I could see not being interested in comics/graphic novels, but to say a show which has had graphic novel/comic tie ins pretty much since it began, is "not a graphic novel" is a bit strange. I would assume he would have to at least be aware DS9 got comics, even if he wasn't interested in them himself.
I think what he means is this hypothetical season premiere was written as a TV show and presenting it in any other medium either wouldn't be appropriate or wouldn't do it justice.
That would make more sense. I am pretty curious to see what they come up with and how it compares to the Relaunch. I'm assuming it will probably be very different.
What would've been in the eighth season of DS9? Follow the novelverse and go into 2376 and end with Bajor joining the Federation? Or have a new storyline showing Kira's first year as commander of DS9, Bajor's relations with the Federation, the choosing of new staff to replace O'Brien, Jadzia (since the science officer post seemed empty in the final season) and someone for Worf, with it ending with Bajor joining the Federation?
We don't know. An eighth season was never really planned, this hypothetical eighth season premiere is just the result of the writers reuniting and assembling what they would have done for a season premiere set after WYLB.
