Oh, Roy Scheider is such a favourite of mine. I was so sad at his passing. His inconventional looks really make him attractive. I loved him in All that Jazz.

For those who only know him from My Three Sons, it's amazing to see how drop dead sexy Fred MacMurray was in Double Indemnity:

(Love that scene with the door-that-opens-the-wrong-way for the convenience of the plot.) ;)

And let's not forget the often-overlooked Tyrone Power, Jr.:

Today anyone who smokes is treated like an outcast and even comes across as selfish, ignorant and weak willed. Back in the day (and just like on Mad Men) they actually made it look cool.

I like watching the old movies with people such as Robert Mitchum, John Wayne, James Stewart, James Mason, John Mills. The acting at times was bit over the top but it was great!

I read a news item a year or so ago about how much Hollywood stars were paid back in the day to smoke particular brands. Old documents had come to light. Very interesting.

The first Clark Gable picture reminds me a bit of George Clooney.

Orson Welles was quite a hottie before he got really fat. He's not my type physically, but he had a sexy deep voice and a lot of charisma.

He was especially hot as Rochester in "Jane Eyre" (unfortunately, he completely overshadowed the bland Joan Fontaine, who was a wrong choice for Jane).

    Young Christopher Plummer:

    Young Kirk Douglas:

    Sterling Hayden:

    Dana Andrews

And now let's have some European actors:

    James Mason

    Louis Jourdan

    Young Raf Vallone

Young Francisco Paco Rabal. The pictures really don't do him justice, he was probably not all that handsome even back then, but watch Bunuel's "Viridiana" to see how hot he was, with a deep sexy voice, great presence, exuding masculinity and a hint of danger.
