finally watched this one. Just a whole big bag of meh. 6/10

although, I did like the way Rayner got everyone together to come up with a solution. He continues to be my favorite part of the season.

it’s pretty obvious we’ll get the Mirror Discoprise (with 32nd Century updates) showing up to help save the day in the finale.

I do also hate that Mol and L’ak get a standard issue tragic back story. Albeit one with a dash of star crossed lovers thrown in. Why can’t bad guys just be bad guys.

Then people would say it's not Star Trek.

The only true bad guys in Trek are the Borg.

Yet most Borg drones are victims. Assimilated against the will and Picard season 2 tried to give us a kind Borg that wants to join the Federation.

Who first appeared in 1991, meaning that at least some Borg have been seen as redeemable since almost the start of their existence within the franchise.

L'ak's outfit was Breen in design all along and most of us didn't notice it.

Sure, FredH is correct with this:

However, how difficult would it be to phaser this out? I can see Jews in Nazi Germany being forced to use Nazi stationary to document information, however I would presume that they would at least cross out the Heil Hitler.

Many Nazi Era postage stamps were still used in postwar Germany, just with Hitler's face and swastikas blackened out with ink.

Given it doesn't appear the Breen possess a magic way to track down Mol and L'ak, or even really appear to be trying to track down Mol and L'ak.

I'm confused why they couldn't just take their ship and park it on a planet somewhere to live out the rest of their days in replicated opulence.

The draw of the criminal life, maybe? They seem to really enjoy it.

Moll and L'ak are definitely thrill seekers. They're in this for the sheer joy of the chase as much as anything else.

Because then people would be bitching to high heaven about how one-dimensional bad-bad guys are.

You really can’t win with Star Trek fans.
