I was hoping with a name like whistlespeak we'd like see cetacean ops or something, but it's just another pre-contact planet.
This has got me thinking maybe something big happens in episode 6. Seems odd that they would do a special advanced screening for what appears to be a run-of-the-mill planet of the week episode.
Really, they are limiting the sets, possibly to make something pretty expensive later. Well, the episode after "Whistlespeak" is called "Erigah" and now we know what that means, so it could be action-heavy.
Add to that, Wil Wheaton's Ready Room next week is Kurtzman, and at the end of this week's RR, Wil says they'll talk about "Discovery and maybe even more" (paraphrased)... Something is definitely coming...
I clocked that, too. They wouldn't be bringing out Kurtzman mid-season like this, along with the sudden 506 red carpet affair in DC, if this was just another run-of-the mill episode.
Episode 5X6 Whistlespeak photos. Spoiler Looks like we're revisiting the planet from TNG Thine Own Self, which has had no real technological advancement in 800 years.
