Battlefield Earth - Honestly, after hearing the critics savage this movie, I wasn’t going to watch it.
Eventually I did, and I didn’t think it was that bad (if you remove the religious aspect, and just watch it as a fictional movie). It wasn’t great, but not as bad if they made out.

How about City Slickers? City Slickers II - The Legend of Curly’s Gold?

Bruce Campbell is always the coolest guy in the room. I loved him in Burn Notice

Decent, but not as funny as the first one. But, I love the end of the movie with the discovery of the real gold.

I also love old black and white movies. Movies like The Maltese Falcon, Casablanca, Arsenic and Old Lace, and Harvey. Probably no one knows these movies, but they are good movies anyway

They’re not corny though - those are all clever, witty, brilliantly-acted classics!

Seen all but the Falcon. Meant to get to it, but never did.

But, I prefer the Three Stooges in Black and White.

If you ever have a chance to see him at a Con or book signing, GO!

I love those movies (although I've never seen Harvey - I should remedy that). Cary Grant is hysterically funny in Arsenic.

Agreed, it's one series I keep hoping to see in the reboot thread.

I wouldn't call Night of the Comet corny. IMHO, it's a sweet, fun movie that doesn't take itself too seriously. I've called it "the cutest movie ever made about the apocalypse." I think Catherine Mary Stewart and Kelli Maroney were both absolutely adorable.

No one knows them? I thought everyone knew those movies. Maybe they're not as familiar to young whippersnappers like Millennials and Gen-Xers. :p

I watched Bubba Ho-Tep for the first time on youtube last night. Very corny, but I loved Bruce Cambell's performance anyway.
I always presume no one has seen those old movies because as far as i know they aren't shown anymore.

By the way I highly reecommend Harvey. Very amusing. Also The Philadelphia Story, and Monkey Business both starring Cary Grant

I also love those old gangster film starring James Cagney, or Edward G. Robinson.
Errol Flynn in Robin Hood is pretty good too.
    Anything with Jimmy Stewart

I'm too lazy to go back through the thread, but has anyone mentioned 'Rat Race' yet?

Yeah, everyone above certain age has no doubt heard of them.
(aside: I didn't watch Casablanca the first time until I owned a DVD player and by that time the movie had been referenced so many times by what came after it that the dialog sounded trite and cliched. Had to keep reminding myself that it was the source.)

I only saw it for the first time a few years ago and fully expected to be underwhelmed. But I loved it, even all the scenes I’d already seen clips from. The scene where the house band plays the Marseillaise is just wonderful.

That scene became extra-resonant for me shortly after September 11. As did the moment in AIR FORCE ONE where a US pilot kamikazied to save the President.

Oh, no, don't mistake me, I loved the film. It was just that the number of quotes people have pulled from it (and their derivatives) made for a weird watching experience.
