I designed this ship for my fan film set in another galaxy around season 6 of DS9 and season 4 of Voyager. This is the USS Swiftwind's answer to the Delta flyer. It's the same length as a runabout and has 2 decks.

This ship was built by the crew of the USS Swiftwind and USS Quantum in the Rithroor galaxy to defend against the evil Chunaati aliens. They don't use conventional weapons, instead they fire powerful EM pulse weapons which can neutralise all electrical systems on a ship or planet. At the front of the Guardian is a unique power dish that can create a small pocket of null space, based on data collected by the Enterprise D when helping the J'nai.

The Chunaati also deploy warp bubbles as weapons. They launch them at ships either enveloping or partially trapping a ship in a bubble that rapidly contracts crushing anything inside. This has been observed by Dr. Beverly Crusher when Wesley's science experiment trapped her inside one and she was able to escape death. The Guardian has a 3rd nacelle that can extend from the dorsal and generate a powerful warp field to cancel out the warp bubble.

The Chunaati dwell in a realm outside of subspace. It is an artificially created pocket universe to protect and hide the Chunaati while they gradually expand their universe until it pushes into our space. The Guardian has an Ultra-Green light generator which kills Chunaati. It is not light particles but Tachyons that are visble as a green light and is lethal to Chunaati physiology. It's only used a deterrent or as a last defense. The rapid attacks of the Chunaati required a smaller more manoeuvrable ship with defensive technology. The Quantum class ships weren't fast enough to avoid the Chunaati weapons and so the Guardian prototype was built as a scout ship to disable the enemy and then allow the big ships to use their conventional weapons to destroy them.

There are fore and aft phaser strips and a forward mounted micro photon torpedo launcher.

The ship can hold 12 crew maximum but usually only 3 or 4 crew are required. It deploys variable warp geometry articulated warp engines which can close inwards for landing in a shuttlebay. The ship has 2 twin deflectors to help the Swiftwind control a wormhole with tensor beams.

The toilet is under the stairs :klingon:

    I'd love some feedback

Getting a 403 error sometimes on this link, just a head's up.

My only real comment on the design is possibly moving the impulse engines slightly more aft, just because they feel too far forward to me. That might be an aesthetic thing, and I'll admit it's really a minor quibble.

Ooh, now that’s very nice! Just the other day I was thinking to myself that nobody does classic cutaways anymore. This one turned out really nice! :bolian:

Thanks. Yes I don't see them anymore. I used to have an awesome massive poster cutaway of the Enterprise D.

No probs. They're the deflectors sticking out.

@Christopher Cushman, the artist who did most of the well-known Star Trek cutaways (including the Enterprise-D one you’re talking about and the gorgeous Deep Space Nine one that’s hanging behind me right now) briefly posted here a few weeks ago. I found them so incredibly inspiring when I looked at them as a child. My dream would be to do one of them in the classic style myself at some point, maybe of the Discovery or the Enterprise from Strange New Worlds. Would be fun to include all kinds of in-jokes, like the infamous Discovery fun-park turbolift.

I've not seen a DS9 one. Do you have a link?

Sure, here are a couple of photos of the poster from an old ebay listing. However, be aware that the pictures don’t really do its beauty justice and it’s a million times cooler in person. They used some metallic ink in the printing process that’s hard to capture in photos. If you can get your hands on a copy for a reasonable price, I can definitely recommend getting it.

(Don’t ask me why they mislabeled it “Terek Nor”, though. )
